Default keep it at the track.....?

i didnt wanna hijack that eclipse thread so heres my question

1. do you have a track near you and where is it?

cause i dont have one within 100 miles of me (probably further) so i always chuckle when i hear "keep it at the track"...i always picture meeting a badass camaro late at night at a light in my 06gt with no cars around and us saying "naw man...lets take this 200 miles away to a track..." haw haw haw...never gonna happen...so i figure maybe with this thread i'll discover a close track that i can visit cause so far most of my races happen right here:

doesnt look very safe...no guard rails to keep a car from flying into an embankment or into bushes or god forbid oncoming traffic.

the closest track to me right now is 70 miles and there the nurunberg ring is 2 hours away and hockeingheim is 45 minutes away. when i lived in dover delaware i went to cecil county maryland twice a month.

to answer the track question im not totally against your typical stoplight to stoplight challenge. i usually just romp it till second gear and usually the contender has no chance and they always do the ricer fly-by

edit: i totally butchered the spelling for those 2 tracks....

I say that because most street racers put other people besides themselves in danger. Street Racer, i assume you have enough intelligence to at least keep it safe and try to find a road where its empty. I just find it stupid that people are going 100mph on a public road. Anything could happen, a deer, a dog, a child, anything could come out. An innocent driver could get caught in the middle of it. Its stupid to street race, the nearest track to me is 30 minutes away (Atco). I am more than willing to take the time to drive to the track if i'm being safe. For myself and for others.

Its just another mustang owner looking out for another. Digest my opinion or throw it up if you want. Im just putting it out there.

Closest track to my hometown is Red River Raceway in Gillam, LA 50 miles one way. From college its Two Lane Blacktop in Bee Branch, AR 30 miles one way.
But I enjoy AutoX more and that is once a month within 30 mins at different locations around Arkansas, ARSCCA is the club that I practice/learn with.

I don't have a problem with it, as long as it's done somewhere isolated If you're downtown or on the highway in the middle of the day, then you're endangering other people along with yourself. I guess it's kind of like cigarettes or any drug. I'm not gonna bitch at someone because they do things that put their health at risk. It just becomes a problem when it is affecting people around them. That's why I hate those Fast and Furious movies. They try to make it look cool to take your car and weave through traffic at 80+. I know it's just a dumb movie, but some people take hollywood a little too seriously.

I feel you man. The track here is right up the street about 15 min away. But just down the road there is a ghost street that's all lit up and 4 lanes across and straight for about 4 miles that we used to go to. I say just use common sense if your gunna do it in the street. If you get caught...that's your own business.

Off topic tho....does anyone know of that housing development that has a race track in the neighborhood. I think i remember seeing it on this sight. It's like those neighborhoods that have golf courses on them.....only this one has a track. ??????
