Default Insurance: only thing holding me back from a GT, haha.

What is the difference on insurance between a v6 and a GT for a 16 year old, male driver? I know no one will have exact numbers, just an estimate. My dad won't pay the insurance on a GT because he says its to high, so im going to throw out the almost full proof..."I'll pay the difference." haha.

Anyone have any numbers?

http://www.e-surance.com and get to typing.

Depends on where you live, where the car is stored, what you use it for, what your hisrotry is, etc.

Depends if your under your parents or getting just a policy on your self. If under your parents, not to bad. But if it's your first policy, not going to be pretty. I knew a guy, and don't get scared, but he was 21, in the military, first policy, new 04 mustang V6 and was getting quotes of 400 per month, finallly sound a cheap place though. Good luck and search all that you can.

haha that was me. cept im 23 military have 3 cars renters insurance and bank account with my insurance company and i still pay 300 a month for a year. i was told my poilicy will go down to 150 a month in june 50% drop 3 tickets get dropped and my credit is good.

my suggestion is to get out from under parents wing as soon as you can so you dont get burned like i am now.

Some insurance companies don't care on distinction. Like my parents' old insurer, they told us if I had a V6, the rate would still be the same and they wouldn't give us discounts. That's when we switched.

i am lucky i guess. Just turned 22, me and my wife are on the policy(she is 22), full coverage(still making payments) and i only pay 140 a month for insurance on my GT. USAA is the shizzle!

I tried to buy a GT back in '01 (I was 22, had a ticket or two, bad credit). When I called my insurance company for a quote, they literally laughed at me. So I ended up buying a damn 4 door 4 cylinder Mitsubishi instead.

When I traded in my '04 Pontiac Grand Am GT (6cyl) for the Mustang last month, my insurance actually went down a bit! USAA ftw!

Being young is definately a disadvantage. My last car was a focus zx3 which I bought when I was 18. My insurance for that was 150/month. I bought my gt at age 22, switched insurance companies and it went down to $120 month. I don't even pay $100 a month now and I'll turn 25 this May which will make it go down even more.

I was 17 when i bought my gt and at first i wanted a v6 because i too thought insurance would be too high on a gt. WHen i called the insurance company, i found out that it was only about a 150 dollar difference per year.

My GT is only 140 a month and I'm 23 (through e-surance) - but I have 3 cars also.

Buy a pile of **** 1986 Honda Civic for $150 and just let it sit and rot, but insure it for the multi car discount. Multicar FTW!
