Burned myself
ok so iwas was being very stupid i will admit that... but i have burned myself before, and this one feels diffrent. need help but first here is a story about it..
So i finally got my O/R x-pipe in today *happy dance* and then i had to drive to lowes to get a couple more bolts for it.. (bought it used and had no bolts) then i came home and parked my car for an hour.. then just drove over to my gramparents (live less than 1/2 mile away!!) and lifted up my car and jack stands, and started to mess with my upper O2 sensors, well i hit my arm again the HOTT pipe and now i have a nice sized burn.. i wanted to know if yall guys could help me figure out the diff between the diffrent degrees of burns like stage 1 (not too bad i know that had several) stage 2 (boils but not to bad) stage 3 (the worste but never had, how bad is it??) and how can you tell the diff between them..
Also how can i keep it kinda hidden from work. (i work in a resturant, don't want to be walking around with a big burn on my arm...

Well how bad does it look? I think you would know if you had a 3rd degree burn. Did your arm just hit the pipe for a second? Either way you might want to get it checked out, just in case. Put some ointment and crap on it and wrap it up.

i cook in a restaurant too and one night i got steam burns on 3 of my fingers...the worst ive ever had. i couldnt sleep the entire night because it hurt soo bad, as soon as the ice came off it hurt. i went to the doctor and he said that the pain is good because it means there wasnt nerve damage or something like that.
i would try wikipedia...

I just looked on webmd, and i think i have a high second degree burn.. It says that it won't hurt, and all it will do is turn white, cherry red, or black. and also that if you push on it it will turn white of a second which mine does..
it was only for a second, so i don't think its too deep, but who knows it was hot.. but yeah i can fel alittle sting from it sitting in the living room witht he fan on.. wow its wierd how a little air from the fan can make it sting a little...
as far as wrapping it waht would yall sugest i didn't find anything on the internet about that. i was going to put some first aid cream on (again) then a gauze pad then i was thinking about some of the strecky medical wrap to keep it on.. or do yall think thats too much??

yeah do the cream and then the gauze. Just make sure you take off the gauze every once in awhile to let your arm breath a bit. Just make sure you go to the doctors if it looks like it's getting infected.

You are in the kitchen at a resturaunt i take it.. b/c if you'r up front, then wear a long sleeved shirt.
I burned myself on a fryer back when I worked at a resturaunt stuff popped up and landed on my arm, bad times. But I wrapped it heavy in gauze at work then took it off when i got home so it could breathe.

I once tried to rub off some melted rubber off my Dad's Harley exhaust, right after he went for a ride. I just didn't think before I did it, DUMB. I also burned myself a couple of times on fajita skillets when I worked at a restaurant. Hope your burn heals quickly. My girlfriends stepdad dropped boiling oil on his foot once and it took months for the 3rd degree burns to heal. Looked nasty too.
Steam burns are the worst becuase if the amount of engergy steam has. The energy(heat) required to vaporize water is huge compared to the amount needed to melt ice or heat water one degree. All that heat is released in a reverse reaction (on you skin). And then it melts your face off.

yeah, a third degree is burn bad, really bad. it's hurts like a **** when it happens but doesn't hurt for much too much longer. I was playing follow the leader when i was about 7 and me not knowing that ashes could be hot for so long walked through a pile of ashes that had been sitting for weeks and been rained on 2 twice. an amber slipped into my shoes and ended up on the top of my foot. that was followed by a small surgery and wearing a bed time slipper to school for weeks...

1st degree burn will just be red and sometimes painful. Like a sunburn.
2nd degree burn will bubble up and cause a scab if you wipe the skin layer away.
3rd degree burn is serious and burns past the skin layers and usually leaves a scar. You can also get infections anytime you loose skin layers. You gotta keep em cleaned up and medicated. I have found that neosporin is excellent in speedin up the healing process from most common burns.
There is also a 4th degree burn when it actually burns beneath your skin and muscle to your bone. That's bad..
If I get anything resembling a bad 2nd degree burn I would go to the doctor. Burns don't heal like most wounds do. They will take longer to heal up real good..

well actually i work as a busser at my resturant because i can't wait till i'm 18. 5 more months!! but anyways i had a gauze on it, but when i was starting to clean stuff it came off and i left it off.
right now all it looks like is a purplish random shape that part of it is bubbling up. and so far it only hurt when it first happened. so it doesn't even bother me..
