Move out of the house then I am sure you can drive whatever car you want.

It could be a whole lot worse my friend. Stick it out until you move out then get whatever your heart desires.

Insurance will be basicly the same from a v6 to a cobra. The insurance bracket is a myth.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if your 16 I would stick with the V6. I really don't mean this to be insulting but you want to be experienced and mature beofre you start going too crazy. I had the mistake (yes, mistake) of having a 96 Mustang GT when I was 16. Like every other 16 year old I was mr. invincible and had to show off to my friends. All I got out of the deal was a broken arm and a wrecked mustang. Maybe you are more mature, but I know the age group, I was there, and temptation can be a very very bad thing.

I only a few months ago managed to get another stang, and when its with your own ca$h, you tend to be a bit more responsible with it :-)

Dude i feel you on this situation!!! lol I have had a 99 hyundai, then cavalier, then to my mustang gt. Well my parents know HOW MUCH I WANTED a mustang!! And they always said before, just get the v6, but i always told them its not the same. From the cd changer to the leather, and etc. And my dad and I always pass the ford delarship and we always look at mustang and we found one for 16,000 with 3k on it. And my dad couldnt even pass that DEAL up!! Plus i am kinda spoiled too! Im 18 btw

well said. just about every car i wanted at 16 my parents said no to.

At 19, I bought my own Mustang. It was worth the wait.

let me tell you, dont go with a GT. Even the more mature have the car get out of control sometimes. It happens to everyone, they press on the gas a little hard doing a u turn and whip comes the back end.

Hey I had a ford focus ZTS that I thought i was mr. bad a$$ in just because i made it so that i could drift in it. Got me a 6,000 car wreck bill for hitting into a guard rail on the ocean front. Showing off, thats when i was 16 with a v4 dohc 4 door sadan.

Just wait it out, get used to the v6, wait till prices drop even lower on 99-04 stangs and then get one. It wont kill you to wait. just dont mod your car, save the money.

Its true... there is no significant difference in insurance premiums from a v6 to a cobra. Go look for yourself.

I succesfully drifted my Lexus going onto I-95 yesterday...probably not the best idea ever, but it was kinda fun.

dude, you should be thankful u got a mustang. In my hs, anyone w/ a mustang was like, hot stuff. Bc of highschoolers' limited budget, the common car was an old civic/saturn so live it up and then once you get out of hs, upgrade to a v6. Chances are, your v6 is faster than most of the other highschoolers' cars anyways

I dont think anyone should have a powerful v8 for their first car. I'm pretty glad I drove around the 16 seconds v6 mustang for a year before I jumped into the GT.

lets not get into an insurance fight. I can tell you that in a select few areas of this country and select few carriers will have about the same rate. But you will not come across this almost at all. All dependent on several factors and just do a search on this. We had a thread a while back that talked about it.

Default haha ya i hear ya guys so ehres what i think...

haha ya i hear ya guys, and thanks so heres what i think im gona do...
il just buy some niiice rims, which later on if i busy another car i can always throw them on too, il get lowering springs, tint the windows and get a chin spoiler.
the rims and lowering springs can always be replaced back with stock and so can rims when i decide in a couple years i wana trade the car in, than i can get the cobra i realllllly want and do whatever i please. instead of dumping my $ into a body kit and what not to fix the v6 up and than just sell in a couple years down the road :icon_shak but dammmmn thiknin that far ahead im outa highschool and into college with baseball and what not, doing and going who knows where sooo AHH brain overload :icon_shak

tell them i influence you. nevermind

im 19. got a new gt 2 years ago. since then, dumped thousands and thousands in. they see me bitch and moan when a part wont work, when a motor blows, when i dump 4 thousand here, 5 thousand there, but then when they see me happy as **** walkin the dog on other cars they feel my joy. if you have a job, you can always help them with money, so they should let you. just please dont use my car as an example, they will look like, oh you want 50 thousand bucks to put into a stang, so u can go extremely too fast for the streets, never see rain, or let anyone else drive it keep on em and show em ur responsible. youll get it

I think it depends on the driver, if you start with a powerful car and can find the limits of yourself and that car without endangerin anyone then you should be all set
