Earnhardt leaving DEI

Earnhardt leaving DEI
Yep..He is leaving the team his father created to go drive for a more competitive team. I think it was a great move because his cars and team were holding him back and has been for the past couple years not to mention his stepmom and team president are idiots. I think he will probably go to childress but if he went to hendrick every other team might as well not even show up at the track

Unless Hendrick gets rid of one of their other drives he cannot go there, they have a limit of a certain number of drivers per team.
I have heard a couple scenarios.
1. Go to childres and drive 3 car.
2. Start his own team and lease cars from hendrick who would build the chassis and engines for him.

I'm thinking RCR. Driving the 3 car would be cool, but budweiser signed their contract at the same time earnhardt did, so both contracts expire at the same time, which means budweiser can follow earnhardt wherever he goes. Tony Stewart said it best...Without Earnhardt, DEI is just a museum.

Dale Earnhardt Jr, has a press confrence set for tomorrow at noon to state his plans for next year and what team he will be driving for. Word has it that Jr. will go to Hendrick Motorsports, not in the #5-#24-#25 or the #48 and Hendrick will not have to start up another team for him. The word on the street is that Jr. (Can we have a drum roll please) will be driving the Hauler for the #24 team. When asked why he would switch from a racecar to a hauler he was quoted as saying, "The way things look right now, my only hope of getting in front of the #24 is to be in the Cab of the Hauler"

How many years has it been since gordon had a good run like this?? Quite a while, and like said earlier, his luck will run out eventually. It was gordon's pit crew that made him what he was on his last good years (which I believe someone fired that pit crew, bad idea), and I suspect he probably has found another good crew. I don't think he is that great of a driver. An awesome pit crew can make or break you. Now, his car making it through the rest of the race speaks alot for his team, I thought for sure it would give out before the end of the race. Definitely a good team of builders backing him.
Earnhardt on the other hand, call it bad luck or bad driver, but it seems like everytime he gets into a positive position, he either gets wrecked or something bad happens. I feel sorry for him. I think leaving DEI is a good decision because while being consistent may be good, winning is alot better, and he has alot expected of him b/c of his dad's history.
Just my 2 cents, I don't really have any favorites. I think Denny Hamlin will be a force to be reckoned with eventually though. He has done pretty well and is still young with a lot of driving years ahead of him.

Did you know JG was the youngest rookie of the year in USAC sprints ever? Or that he won 47 out of 50 events and won the fast time award in every event he entered in his second year of USAC? How about the fact that he has 4 Cup championships and is on his way to a 5th? Or the fact that he has 78 career victories in about half the races it took Dale Sr. to get 76? (I guess that makes Sr. a horrible driver) How about the fact that he finished 3rd in his first ever attempt at the 24hrs @ LeMans last year? Heck, he stepped into a F1 car a few years ago and ran competitive lap times with the guys that have been in the series for years..
Jeff just wasn't as dominant in the last few years.. The sport has changed alot, and Jeff lost Ray Evernham when he decided to start Evernham Motorsports (Dodge) it takes time to get the right people back into place and it takes the whole package, Driver, Crew chief, pit crew, engine developement, etc..
If you're trying to compare JG to D Jr. it's like apples to oranges. You know how many late model races Dale Jr. has entered? Nearly 800.. How many did he win? I believe the number was about 7.. 7/800 is a great ratio.. Don't ya think?
I do agree with you that Hamlin could very well be the next driving force in NASCAR.. But I don't think that anyone will ever get close to the stats of a Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, or Richard Petty ever again. And that's a fact.

Wow, yeah.. That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.. Jeff Gordon is a bad driver... Riiight... You sound like a Jr. fan to me buddy..

What I think is funny is how much you reply to threads with completely useless crap.

apparantly you since i was just bustin your chops dude. People talk smack about NASCAR drivers all the time but whenever anyone says anything about gordon you always seem to take it as a personal attack. I follow NASCAR but don't have any favorite drivers, so i have no problem when gordon or anyone else wins for that matter. Gordon had an awesome race and managed to win with a car that even the announcers had said had no chance of making it to the finish line.

My family and I went to ATL and we noticed his motorcoach in the parking lot (the day after he won the Cup.) My brother is in a wheel chair so it took us a few minutes to get him out of the truck and to get over there, by that time there was a line all the way down the side of the bus. He saw us getting my brother out of the truck and had one of his guys come over and pulled us all the way to the front of the line, chatted with us and signed all of our stuff.. It meant alot to me and my brother for him to do that.. So sometimes I take things that pertain to him a little too personally.
