06 Chargers will be on the road soon...
Unloaded our first batch off the rail cars today. I wasnt a huge fan of this car to begin with, but the car does look alot better in person than in pictures. They sound pretty tough and have a nice interior. I got to romp on 'em a little bit, Id say its an easy low 14 second ride. It was kinda odd all we got were Hemi R/T's... no V6 no SRT8. Im still impressed with the Hemi motor. 340/390 5.7 and 425/400 6.1. I actually got in trouble for hotrodding a SRT8 300 C a few weeks back..

I saw one at a car show a year ago, looked okay but personaly I didn't like it. The motor is about the only thing I liked and I am more than sure its going to cost more than everyone wants to pay for it. Like the GTO, it costs a fortune to own a grand am with a vette motor in it.
Hopfully I will see one at the track once they come out and we will see what it can really do.

I'm almost certain I was next to one on hwy 370 lastnight on my home from my car club meeting. I was looking at the back of it and Im like..has to be a 300. Speed up and looked at the front, it sure looked like a new charger to me. It was almost dark but, don't know what else it could have been.

Police Interceptor
Many police departments are buying them for replacement squad cars, with the big hemis mixed in as interceptors. Local cops in Cobb County (atlanta georgia area) are getting them in. Driving tests run by the cops reported that they were roomier, faster and better brakes/handling than the camaros they are replacing. Exact specs for the interceptor models not available yet, but some interesting bits and pieces are rumored to be going into these dedicated radar/laser platforms...

my dad and i passed one of these, a white one, on the freeway friday night. it looked a bit better in person than in the media, but i still think it's fugly and that dodge should have stuck to the concept.

That silver one looks pretty nice to me. I look at it this way, the days of the two door pony cars have come and gone. Only the Stang remains and that's why I own one, but I grew up in the 60's during the original muscle car era. Young adult drivers today grew up with the performance sedans ruling the roads, BMW, Lexus etc. have been the hot ticket for over a decade now. The 300C and the Charger fit right in with those cars and are a bargin in comparrison. With the SRT package they will lay waste to most 2v Stangs on the road. I guess I'd better get my cams in and a nitrous kit, can't be getting whoopped at the track by a barge.

Havent seen the SRT8 Charger yet, but I have driven many of the SRT8 300's. Since its basically the same car I guess its a fair comparison. The SRT8 I haave driven have been baddass!! It will easy take my mid 13 second GT. My boss actually gave me a 'verbal warning' for beating the snot outta that 300... then he quit a week later.

4 door?!?! what were they THINKING its a grocery getter if you ask me. I hate those with a passion. It looks like a magnum w/o the back part. Who the hell says..."ok i got an idea...we'll take the back off of a magnum put a wing on it and call it a charger!!" :diablo_an : :angry4: :angry4: :angry4:

4 now, 2 to go
If the 4door sells (and it will), and the hemi option is popular (and it will be) Chrysler has a 2door design ready to go (resembles the infiniti g-35 2door from the side), and will be showing a roadster show car next year.
I think its going to sell well and cause headaches for its bmw/mercedes/lexus/infiniti competition. Not to mention the odd mustang that tries to run with that hot hemi engine in a car that only weighs slightly more as a 4-door than a mustang coupe...
Ford better enjoy its 300hp attention in the 05 mustang, 'cause Chrysler (and GM - LS's in everything, seems like) are bringing more power to the market right about...NOW.

When You Think About It The Charger Is A Great Car For Mopar To Give To The Public. The 300c Isn't As Afordable Or Sporty And The Magnum Wagon Is Not As Reasonably Priced, weighs More And Is Geared Towards The Family Market. Mopar Was Famous In The 60's And Early 70's To Produce Econmicaly Priced Big Cars With Big Block Power That Would Stomp Most Other Cars On The Road. One Of The Mistakes Was Calling This Car The Charger,i Wish They Would Of Reserved That Name For A Sexy 2 Dr Rear Wheel Drive With V8 Power.

I dont know about the affordable part... of all the Chargers we've unloaded, I have since a V8 under $33,000. Plus dealers are marking them up just like the 05 Mustang. For the money Id take a 300C. I love 'em. They arent exactly sporty, but they do have 340hp 390 ft.lbs and near 50/50 weight distribution. Before Id buy a Charger Id get a 300C. Either just the 2wd Hemi, the AWD Hemi or the SRT8 !!

In the new cobra, youve got nothing to worry about unless its a c6 z06, or a handfull of exotic sports cars.
And what the chance of them going to go full blown at you in the street anyways? Well deffinetly not from a stop... Rolling is a different story.
