need 4wd

i need your guys help. i need a list of all 4wd cars and trucks. no big suv's like the expidition. no trucks bigger than an f150 or 1500 chevy/dodge. i cannot stand being stranded in stupid weather like this and a front wheel drive car wont make it any where as i got stuck in my own development on the way to work. never made it to work. lol (for those wondering, LOTS OF PACKED SNOW AND ICE!)

so far i have got:

Any Subaru
Ford Explorer
Dakota
f150
Silverado

thanks for the help

Codiddy 02-14-2007 09:26 PM

don't forget jeeps those things are like the original SUVs

lanmas23 02-14-2007 09:31 PM

ford ranger, jeep grand cherokee, all audi's with quattro i think, the fusion offers all wheel drive

stanger00 02-14-2007 11:47 PM

toyota. i would like to get my hands on a mid to late 80's yota

spike_africa 02-15-2007 06:37 AM

the only imports i do like are subaru's we have had a few in my family never had a problem with them ever.

BrentK 02-15-2007 07:28 AM

STI....:moreboost:

No but really I would look into an older wrx. My friend has a wagon and its so nice when we go snowboarding and other junk to have all the room

03MustanGT 02-15-2007 07:59 AM

Bronco, Fullsize drivetrain and V8 power and low cost something that all these other suvs lack

CCM 02-15-2007 09:59 AM

Our 4wd Ford Escape is a BEAST in the snow. Yesterday I passed about 10 stuck cars in it, some were suburbans and stuff.

It's also just a great all around car anyway, and surprisingly fast if you get the V6 one.

GREG@SN95 02-15-2007 01:38 PM

buy a bronco or an f150

make sure its posi front and rear or having the 4x4 is pointless...

PColav6 02-15-2007 02:19 PM

Nothing wrong with a good ole Jeep Cherokee (Grand cherokees suck)

spike_africa 02-15-2007 02:25 PM

i would get an older subaru outback and use that they can get a good 300k miles before they need a rebuild. My brothers winter beat is a subaru wagon 1985 modle and has 350k on it and still runs well. No major maintance done. He doesnt rip on hard at all though. From the few subarus we have had i would really sugest one unless you need something with more ground clearance then i would deffinatly say a older f150/bronco just a base modle with 4wd and posi/lockers would be nice in the snow.

i know what purestang is frustrated with, that storm sucked. luckily i didnt get stuck anywhere. my buddy out in PA bought an older explorer (he calls it the exploder) for like 500 and it needed a new tranny which he found for 300 i think. it works out well in the snow for him. 4wd and he just gets retread tires and slaps em on.

GREG@SN95 02-15-2007 02:38 PM

**** jeeps

I hate jeeps

why does everyone buy ****in cherokees

be a man and buy a ford...

if ya get a GM make sure its either diesel or its got a 350

GREG@SN95 02-15-2007 03:13 PM

and make sure it has posi front and rear...

it kills me how they sell "4x4" truck but only one wheel spins in the rear and one in the front... so if ya think about its still only a 2x4

PureStang 02-15-2007 03:19 PM

the one i have is the z71 model. so its got the true posi

33's look good on a body lift nothing else. if you have a 6 inch lift and body lift then you need to get some 36-37's on that mofo.

i work at a ford dealer ( in canada) so i recently took all of our cars out in the snow to see how they did. f-150, explorer, ranger, etc... all were good IF in 4wd, in 2wd most got stuck/spun ( i was suprised i got an explorer stuck before a ranger in 2wd). Fusion and Edge were ok ( if they had AWD) but tops by far was the escape. The 2wd and 4wd both had incredible traction in the snow/ice. Definatly my choice. I haven't driven a bronco in the snow but i would assume it would be similar to the explorer or f-150 because there is no weight in the back. But it all depends on variables , none of the trucks i drove had any weight in the back if they did im sure the results would have been wayyyy different. :breakdancesmilie:

broncos are ridiculous offroad...

The difference between the broncos and the new fords is that many broncos were made with 351w and c4 trannys... that added to the fact that most were posi front and rear and a decent turn radius makes them ideal for just about any offroading condition stock

WaterDR 02-18-2007 08:10 PM

How about snow tires? They also stop a lot better then a 4wd car.

MattJ 02-18-2007 08:38 PM

i had a 97 dodge ramcharger i just got rid of. you couldnt get it stuck in any kind of snow conditions. i never got it stuck in the mud either.

The only Bronco to ever have a front locker option was the 1984 to 1987 BroncoII there was never a fullsize bronco with a front locker stock.
