Default I thought Shelby GT500s were slow?

Well I guess my car is even slower. Let's just say I got my *** kicked.

It was from a 40mph roll and I started in 2nd gear. The Shelby immediately got a 1 car length jump. I started to reel him in slowly, then I shifted into 3rd gear and fell two car lengths behind. I shifted into 4th and fell another 2 car lengths behind! I hit 110mph and gave up. He was about 5 car lengths ahead of me by then.

The Shelby was bone stock. I think they put down about 440rwhp stock? I thought the outcome would've been favorable for me, since my car has the weight advantage, plus he had a passenger in the car. I guess it didn't make a difference afterall. My car is slow for the hp it has, plus it was probably heat soaked. Oh well, excuses aside, I got whooped. Blah.

Ouch, well everyone has to loose sometime, although it does seem like it should have been closer.

What does your car run in the 1/4? I dont see why you lost but since he got the jump, it think that was the turning point of that race. mabye you need up get the big bore 2.1 KB kit and step it up a little bit. Even though u are lighter, its really not by much. If you add a homemade intake to the gt500 and tune it, its about 70rwhp. lol

Yah, me too. This has to be my most disappointing race yet. Especially since a stock C6 can apparently pull a Shelby. And I've already beaten a C6 when I had a slipping automatic.

My personal best with the automatic is 12.6 @ 110. Best with the 6-speed is 13.7 @ 108 .....with a 2.3 60'. I guess it's my driving since everyone who has seen me drive says I have "three second shifting"

KB upgrade is totally out of the question now. I'll need a built bottom end before I can add any more hp. I did order a Gords heat exchanger since I am suffering from heat soak with the puny KB one..

If you are close to SE wisconsin, or near naples, florida ill be willing to give you some free driving lessons. I dont see why you cant pull 11.90s-12.00s. List all performance and suspention mods you have done to the car...

GT500s are quick, but not the beast that most built Cobras are. In fact, my friend's stock Shelby is running scared from a local SRT4.

I think a lot of the magazines that were reporting 1/4 mile times for the Shelby GT500 can't drive worth a crap so I think that mislead a lot of us...including myself. I agree, you should be pulling way lower 1/4 mile times

I didn't know about this. Do you know what day it is? I was just in there the other talking to him about lowering my car and whatever else I want to do to it.

This was nothing more than an example of how a better driver, such as myself, would have faired better in this situation.
