I've been with my gal for 8 months. We both know we're the one and such, however I'm the one that wants to wait until we're out of college. I don't have a problem being engaged while in college (which still won't happen for a couple years) but I think if someone gets married before 21 it's kinda young.

Anywho, just my personal thought.... but I think should be dating at least a year before marriage if your younger than like 23-25. It's hard to say really, but yea

4 months, been married for almost 9 years now.

You will know when you are ready, don't let these lonely losers talk you into waiting til you have been with her for 20 years and she feels like you don't care.

although, three weeks might be a little too short, but I know a couple that knew each other like 2 weeks before they got married and have been together for 20 years, they seem happier than most couples I know.

Only reason we waited was due to her education other than that we knew the first day we meet there was something special between us. If you dont feel that certain something she may not be the one, dont settle as thats when you will get into trouble. Dont stay in a relationship just because you are use to each other. The feelings for each other has to be mutual as well. If you or her are still going to school wait until after you have graduated in the meantime enjoy dating each other.

i've was with my lady 3 years before I asked her to marry me....we aren't getting married until next October so I'm not quite there yet.

Zig, don't get Lust and Love confused my friend....In my opinion you can't really be in "love" with someone is 3 weeks. There is a lot more to love than you can realize in 3 weeks of being with someone. It takes a lot of work, compromise, committment, and sacrifice. If you guys truly love each other then there is no reason to rush into anything. Usually if a guy wants to ask a girl to marry her after a month or two of dating it's because they are insecure and are afraid of losing the girl.....or cause they need a green card! ha ha ha... Just my 2 cents.

You were a mechanic and the spark was gone...he he, sorry that tickled me.

Was the green card comment aimed at me?

I thought I was in love and *thought* I found the one several times in college. Started my first job out of college and met my wife the first week on the job. (Was in a 3000 employee place.. btw).

We dated for 3 mos and I popped the question. We invited her parents to her apt for dinner and I asked her father for his blessing.

Went through 6 mos engagement and then got married.

This December will be 17 yrs.

Make sure she is the right one is all the advice I can give. Too many people don't take marriage as a sacred vow these days. It's alot easier to quit than make it work for life.

Congrats on your relationship. Hope it works out for you.

Same here, just give her a chance to get her career done with as once you get married its a bit difficult unless you two are shacking up which I dont recommend.
