Default QUIZ. What is missing from the 2005 GT's?

Seriously, there is something missing from the exterior of the new 2005 Mustang GT's. Anyone know what it is?

Default I know!

The word Mustang. Actually it's only found on the door jams. (At least with the Interior Upgrade package.)

Those may be correct answers, but not the one I am looking for.

Hint, I believe that this is the first time that this has not been on any Mustang EVER. Man, now I have to hit my Mustang book to be sure. Seriously, I was really surprised when I realized this.

You '05 guys need to fess up (lol).

****, we posted at the same time. That's correct. The word "Mustang" does not appear anywhere on the exterior of the car. I think that's wierd.

Kind of like my 2002 Suburban Z-71. It does not say 'Suburban" anywhere on it.

The new stang actually says "Ford GT" on the rear trunk.

You mean they finally put it on the correct side.

My Opinions:
Some things should be mandated by the government on all vehicles.
Drivers side gas caps is one to cut down on traffic jams at the pumps.
All vehicles should have the headlights at the same level so they don't shine into peoples mirrors. ( I hate it when a SUV, truck, or semi gets behind me at a light or to close. )

Personally I think Ford completely blew the marketing roll out on the 05.
First of all it should have been sorted and ready for sale as a 04 1/2 to comemorate a true 40th anniversery.
Second they should have done away with the hype and had the vehicles on the lots for sale instead of making them so scarce the Dealers were gouging customers and scrounging to fill orders. They lost one sale here. I tried to order one and the dealer would only promise first come first serve on what came in. Screw em, I put another $1500 into my 99 and I'm glad I did.
Last I think they should have had the flip on the back like the 69 did instead of the addon spoiler. Man did I love my ol 69 sportsroof.

The main thing that the 05 is missing is me in the driver's seat.

You hit the nail on the head!!, I am soooo glad I saved 10G by buying an 04 rather than buying overpriced 05!!

I agree with you there. That would have been cool! The whole 64 1/2 thing has always been a contraversy. Was there really a 64 1/2 or was it a 65? The car was introduced in August of 64 which was early for a new model, so they called it a 64 1/2. Whatever they did, they sold 1,000,000 cars in the first 18 months. That is insane by today's standards.

These are all good points about the 05 stang. I was looking at pics of them since the concept era. I loved the way it looked. But when I wanted a new car the 05 wasn't readily available except through ordering one, then making a down payment without having seen or drivin it, BS. I got my 04 stang for $21,300 Sticker was $26,950. Did I get a good deal? Yes I think so because I love my new car. Plus they had 5 years to build this production model right. I'm hoping for a trouble free, fun to drive, great looking, very comfortable, excellent handling, acceptable stock performing, Mustang. For at least 5 to 7 years.. Plus it is the 40th anniversary model. May be a collectors car in time. :glasses1:

Well apparently Ford didnt screw up much with the new stang seeing as how they are going to sell around 200,000 units. Thats pretty impressive for a car that is rear wheel drive performance car.

Ford has not only kept most of the loyal Mustang customers happy by offering more performnace and car for the same money. (sticker price anyway).

They also have made the car appeal to the the old school crowd around when the originals were made but also the new young drivers and most everyone in between.

I cant remember the last performance car that sold that many units.

you are correct sir. most people love the new look ( I know I still do). some people don't like em cause they're bigger. My wife doesn't like them cause she knows I would love to have one LOL. Everytime I see a shiny black 05 GT I cant help but stare at it. :love10: There isn't too much not to like. Price, looks, performance, demand for, maybe some bolt on ground effects. I may even think of getting one in a few years. I wonder how long they'll stay with this body style. they usually change every 4 or 5 years . :toothy3:

I just wonder how the long term reliability will turn out. I've seen some web posts of some serious problems but they are probably isolated incidents

Precisly what I was going to say.

There is a denist in MO that we are friends with that ordered a "custom package 05 GT" which he ordered what he wanted down to the seat color.. they told him they stopped making production of the 05 GT's because the 06 is a high demand so they started on those.

I think the 05's are to retro, yes now they look cool but what happens 5 years down the road when the hype goes down. The problem with retro cars is that they lose there apeal because its difficult to change them. Look at the PT's, they came out with a bang and now there having trouble selling them and look at the VW New Beetle and the Mini Cooper, all these cars will slowly fade because there is no where else to go with them. I wish ford would of went with a more modern look, I don'nt want to go backwards I want to go forward!

but that was a PT cruiser... This is a mustang, the heritige and classic design will keep the styling forever up to date.

They need to make the v6 wheels in 18's :glasses10

These are some pretty good points made about how the mustang now looks.
I know some people who didn't like it when they changed body styles in 99.

It's going to be interesting to see what Ford is going to do with the new body style in the coming years. Will it last 6 years like the last one or will they revamp it altogether in the next few years. It's really hard to predict what the car designers have in mind, and what the car manufacturers will do with new concepts. The 05 body is a lot bigger than any previous model.

But Chysler did the same thing with the 300.

Lets start a poll to see what mustang body style everyone likes best.!!!:toothy11:
