Well, it was fun actually, except, now I feel like I got run over due to lifting that heavy *** transmission up. Took us about 9 hours all said and done, but that includes putting the car up on ramps, going out for 2 hours to get the flywheel resurfaced and all that jazz, and taking a lunch break. Id say total work time a little under 6 hours, so not too bad.

Impressions: Holy HELL this thing grabs a lot better than the old one, and it lets out in the middle of the pedal, not all the way at the damn top...No beating on it yet, got 400 miles left til I can open her up and powershift her some Glad this finally got done, Ill post some pics of the crap we pulled out of my tranny. Pilot and Throwout bearings = 0wnEd. It was awful. Ok, thats all.

 

Dude you try lifting a auto tranny out and working on it....I rather change out a clutch than what I did...lol

BTW, does anyone use GM Synchromesh in their car? Know anything about it?

 

I use AMSOIL fluids in mine. I know syncromesh is a great fluid though. i get a lot of requests for it from friends because i work at a GM dealership.

 

Ok, ill stick with the synchromesh. Seems a lot of people actually recommend it for our cars. :drool: This thing is amazing. I cant wait til 500 miles...mmmm

 

At least it wont take you that long to get another 500 miles on there unlike some people on here who never drive there mustang.

Heres the clutch disk. Didnt look as bad as I thought it would, but when we pulled the inspection cover off, dust went EVERYWHERE.

 

not sure what your funds are but how come u didnl;t get like a spec flywheel while u were down there u could ahve slapped that on there also

I got it for the v6 since i was getting my clutch and new tranny so figured y not just not sure what ur funds are like but it was a good mod for the sixer

Thats the thing. I didnt get paid this month because of the way my job works, I have to take a 2 week unpaid vacation every year so I didnt get a check for this pay period. No funds.

Dude, you shouldve seen the pilot bearing. Its was all messed up.

 

notihng wrong with the ford flyhweel anyhow, i wont be replacing mione either next week. Just resurfacing the old one.

 

Thats all we did. Just make sure to use a reputable machine shop.

 

You could have replaced that flywheel. Looks like it took a while to do all that.

 

Send me about 300 bucks and it wouldve been done I shouldve taken a pic of what it looked like when we got it resurfaced. It looked brand new. Gorgeous

 

I've had problem's with flywheel's being resurfaced in the past.But it was on my SS Camaro I used to have.When I got hot it did'nt want to shift out off first gear for some reason.

 

Ill be quite sad if it comes to that. No problems so far though, it drives 100% better than it did though, thats for sure.

 

Good job, I bet mine will take a little longer to switch out.

 

LOL I bet so too. I cant imagine having to drop the K to change a damn clutch. Id have done it all at once. Longtubes + Clutch. Wait, didnt you end up getting tubular k?
