Exclamation hydroplaned on the highway...slid across traffic...hit a guard rail

ive already typed this once, but here we go again.

well at about 1 pm today, i was drivin up to castle rock. and it starded raining. recently the rain in colorado has been rediculous. colorado weather is bull****, it rains like florida in the summer, and has the snow and ice of michigan in the winter. so im driving along and it starts to POUR. as i crest a hill i see a HUGE puddle and i know im ****ed immmediatley.

i hit the puddle and instantly my car goes side ways. im in the left lane, and my car does a 180 while sliding across the right lane facing traffic. i slide right into a dirt/mud median, instantly it spins my car back around, i slide onto an off ramp and my right front SMACKS into a guardrail. my tail follows and stops inches from the guard rail. now my car is sitting perfectly strait facing foward in the emergency lane of the off ramp. "...holy ****."

the damage? minimal considering what just happened. theres a decent size scratch in my fender, which is moved back a couple cm. theres a couple marks on the right side of my bumper. and a big scratch on my rear bumper. the funny thing is i have NO idea what my rear bumper hit! i dont remeber feeling or seeing anything hit it. but something did for sure.

so im buyign a new d/d. probably a 90 AWD eagle talon for hopefully like 500 bucks. any suggestions for cheap ($500-700) d/d's would be appreciated.

damn what an adrenaline rush. ill post pics of the damage in a minute.

and the really funny thing is, 1 year ago TODAY. august 3rd 2005, i ripped my bumpers off trying to drift. funny how **** happens...eh?

hydroplanning always scares the **** out of me, I've never had a wreck but I've come close once because of hydroplaning bull****. I've always wanted a CRX or like a 97-99 Honda Prelude for a DD.. just because I think they're decent looking cars and they get good gas mileage. The prelude would be out of the range but CRX's are still nice if you like hondas lol

Glad you are ok man..like others said it could have been much worse. I am just glad you hit the guard rail and not another car or spun out into some trees.

Summer tires in the winter = cracked bumper.....now...DR's in the rain = 2 cracked bumpers + as a bonus, scratched fender!!

You'll learn one of these days!

Glad you're allright though, maybe that hit knocked some since into you!

woah... weird, I went to 7-11 last night around 12 or so and one of my friend's friend's cars , the one they all drove there in, has scratches all over the front passenger side bumper... he hydroplaned on the highway too X_X
Well, it was time for a new front bumper anyhow, and you will appreciate your ponycar more with a DD, my brother does between his audi A4 and silver01gtvert-KB

sucks man, do you have the money to get it fixed?

edit: I remember a time when you were so proud that you drove your stang every day of the year and talked down to people that had daily drivers... now you see why we have daily drivers huh?

That's dumb, do NOT drive with drag radials on a DD...wtf man, just buy some crap wheels and put the radials on those and have your all-weather tires on your nice wheels.....that whole thing could have easily been avoided with some common sense But seeing as your cobra's are a little f'd up, are you gonna use that as the excuse to get the stock GT bumpers again? Haha, just ****ing with you.

Glad to see you didn't hit another car though, you would have been in deep **** if that was the case...

What dr's do you use?

And driving daily on DR's isnt dumb. I have been on nittos for almost 2 years and only nitto drags. I drive highway, city, rain, and or shine. Even with them bald in the middle i have no problem driving safely with common sense, aka when it rains i go slow.
