05 V6 Mustang, Holy crap they are fast!
Was driving to pick up some stuff yersterday, a BMW goes blowing past me followed by an 05 V6 Mustang.
Of course, i couldnt just let them go, so i laid it out to catch up to them.
The BMW totally owned the V6. The V6 slowed down as he saw i was coming and i pulled along side him and we Bs'd for a few as we slowly cruised up to the next light while it was still red.
He just got the damn thing, had a grin that split his face in two. <laugh>
Light turns green, I punch it, he punches it.
First 30 feet Neck to neck!!! 30-50 feet i gain a couple feet, at 100ft i'm about a car length ahead of him.
Now, he has a stock 05 Mustang V6, i got a slightly modded 04 Mustang GT, CAI and exhaust is all so far.
Yah, i beat him, but i was totally suprised how fast his V6 was!
And Damn, they sound FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
All this focus on the new Mustang GT.... Dont ever discount those V6's. It woudlnt exactly take a fortune to get a 05 V6 to beat a stock 04 GT.
Pretty sweet!

I heard a new Ford ad on the radio that says the new V6 has more horsepower than the first V8 Mustang.

there aint gonna be no eating alive on 13 vs 14 on a quick light to light race that lasts less than 200ft. As i said even at that short distance i was a car ahead of him, but i really expected to be further ahead of him.
i beat him, i have no doubt i could do it repeatedly, over and over again, the point of the thread was just to state how impressed i was by the 05 V6.
For a V6 it is damn fast.

Drove a V6 convertable 05 a couple of weeks ago and damn yes I was surprised too.It had alot more power than I ever expected from a V6.

You want to talk about impressive V6's.... The new Eclipse GT has a 3.s V6 making 263 hp !! That car will be serious competition for a stock 99-04 Mustang GT.

yeah they shoudl all come wit the fog lights first of all and if u dont want the same front for the v6 and gt then they should have done a better job on the v6 becuase it looks horrible

Maybe theyd be more expensive, but I dont think they should be. Look at Chrysler's 5.7 Hemi or GM's LS1/2 motors. Neither is anymore expensive than a 4.6 and they are much more powerful. I dont know Ive just always had a hard time understanding Fords love affair with small displacement motors. For me it started in 1994 when the 'new' Mustang should have gotten a 351.

no we dont need new engineers ford can out **** poads of hp in there cars but then the price would skyrocket the lexus i guarantee cost more then an 05 gt this is y ford keeps hp low mustangs shoudl be modded also so u can add the hp if u want to do so

05 V6 clocks in 15.3 second 1/4 mile.
All the GT's from 94-99 clocked in 15.1 second 1/4 mile.
I think it was the 2000 GT that was able to clock a 13.8 1/4 stock (when they fixed that bottleneck it had)
What's killing the GT's of those years is the Gears, they all came with 2.73's (in some cases 3.08's) only after 2000 they started coming with 3.27's stock, which were good for .2-.3 seconds off the 1/4 in a car with the same HP

thats true but the 5.0 has close to 280 ft lbs of torque. how much does a v-6 have?
i haven't raced a v-6 yet but stock for stock the 5.0 should take him off the line and also creep forward up top. the 05's are heavier...
