Mustang Race Car plans scrapped?
I am 99% sure I am headed a different direction for my racing plans for '07.
The white MCM Motorsports CMC Mustang may never be. Another car will take its place, but I wont know definately until either tonight or tomorrow.
Bad news is, you all will HATE ME like a bunch of angry villagers

Hmm, a 300 hp honda rice? Whats rice about a stock outside honda with a turbo? Technically, your car would be more "rice" than this would. You have over 4k in exterior stuff and about 2k in go fast...hmmm

Okay, here is the deal....I really enjoyed my experience Sunday at The Rock. The instructor told me to go ahead and go for my comp license as soon as I have a car ready. He also suggested I go visit a few other tracks while I am building my car so that I have an advantage in '07 by already having some laps at these other tracks. Now, I really put the '04 through its paces Sunday and felt really bad beating on it so much. Carolina Motorsports Park and VIR are the next two events and they are even worse on the equipment. I wanted to find another car to go play with at these events without worrying about anything happening to it, which BTW, is how a race car is supposed to be. The Honda Challenge Series allows close competition with very little expense. The lighter cars are easier on Brakes, Tires and every other wear component, making it more affordable. I have a 1993 Dakota with a tired V6 and didn't think it would do well towing a 3,150 lb race car and a 1,500 trailer. The trailer, I would still have to buy or build....another expense. So, here it is a 1993 Honda Civic that currently runs GREAT! All I need is some new brakes and it is ready for VIR the end of July. Actually, part of the deal I worked out includes rear disc brakes off an Integra so I am already ahead of the game. By this car being running already, it already saves me about $2,500. All I care about is racing, I don't care what it is in. If I can turn laps on a Lawn Tractor, where do I sign. The car will be delivered later this week and they will pick up the white Mustang. Total investment $200.00 for a running car. Bash me if you wish, but I will be out racing in a few weeks while you haters are asking how Black Bullitts would look on your photochopped lowered Mustang.

BTW, don't you remember how that Green Civic ran at New Bern?

well, if all he is looking for is a good time and some track experience as soon as possible, this is a very good route. It may not be pretty, but neither will the cars he will be racing, i dont expect you will see ANY 'ricer' honda civics at the race events, because these are race car drivers... not ricers...
And he prolly wont be too tempted to drop alot of money on the car... especially if the competition is set up to be close...

SpinMedia, thank you for the compliments but honestly, if I took you for a ride along in one of these things, you would never be the same again. Trust me, I was once like you, but I had my eyes opened for me back in 1998. Long story, but lets just say it involves an '88 CRX and me on a Yamaha FZR 600.

YAY! MIKE YOU ARE THE MAN. I have even more respect for you now! Forget all the ignorant people who assume because something has an H symbol on it, automatically makes it rice. I see riced out mustangs all the time, dont judge. Fast = Fast. 10 seconds = 10 seconds, doesnt matter how you get it done. Thats a GREAT deal man, simply amazing. I can point you in a great direction import wise, as its my vice really. PM what you are thinking engine wise and all that. We can chat it up "ricer" style homie Thats awesome.
