Slow times for lottttttttts of HP?

So I was reading a Mustang magazine today at the mall and there was an 05 GT as a story.

From what I remember it had a Procharger F-1 Blower, 2 core intercooler (may have been 3), set at 20PSI, running on 20x9's in front and 20x10.5's in rear. Had 285/35/20 BFG KDW2s in rear.

Put down770RWHP and 640RWTQ (somewhere in that vacinity)

I know they weren't DR's or slicks, but still they were slow times I feel.
Time were an 11.87 (might have been 11.78). That seems awfully slow for that much power and a centri blower that'll just keep pulling.

Discuss....

your forgetting the huge ass rims it has its going to kill his times dramatically

but that much?

That's crazy, lol

His times may not be great for the mods he has, but at least he was blinging!

With 700 hp, I can tell you his traction was limited for about 300+ feet.

shad0ws 06-01-2006 08:59 PM

yeah, i don't think they make a slick for that size tire and any drag radial is not going to hook well with 700hp+

It's the rims definately! Not only are they heavy as hell, but they don't hook for crap. The side walls are too stiff. If you want a fast car, don't get bigger rims. Those rims are taking a full second plus off that car.

traction case in point.

matrixpuba 06-02-2006 08:04 AM

its all a loss of traction.

Maybe the same people that put the gt500 together helped out on making this one......

60' is everything for a good ET. without traction you can fly through the traps, but run a high ET.

3V2000GT 06-02-2006 09:45 PM

thats the livernois GT and it was on streettires, you try putting down all that HP on street tires

Badfish 06-02-2006 10:23 PM

definatley NOT the rim size. GI Joe ran a 12.85 wth his N/A 05 roush sittin on 20 inch rims.

it's loss of traction for sure.

2K1TBGT 06-03-2006 01:12 AM

traction + driver mod = good ET
he's missin one...or both

csledd 06-03-2006 01:13 AM

well my car has decent hp for an NA GT and I get slow track times because I can't hook anymore and i granny shifted it lol
