They think they are better than anyone who isn't in a vette like there a god or something that is why i'm building my car with a 5.4 with forged internals and then put Twin turbos. I don't want any vette to beat me on the street. If one does it's going to be a lingenfelter. (not sure on spelling)

I find it humorous to see some Cobra owners get bent out of shape whenever someone calls their car a Mustang. It's as bad as the SRT4 owner arguing that his car isn't a Neon.
I do know for a fact quite a few of them were former LS1 owners. Maybe that explains their distaste for other Mustangs? The Mustang on Mustang hate is ridiculous. I can't recall seeng z06 guys pissing on the C5/6s. IMO, those few haters gives the other decent Cobra owners a bad name.

Whoa, this thread went south quickly! The fact of the matter is, the compared THE FASTEST productions MUSTANG against the base corvette model and got its *** whooped! I love mustang, but you gotta give credit to chevy for building the best corvette up to date....

Yes, the Z06 does cost a bit more. Bout 64k for the msrp. Although, I think the base C6 can be had for right around 50k. With the GT's markups, its going to be pushing Z06 territory, and honestly, its going to hurt ford I think.

thats a lot different when you're talking about markups... i've heard a lot of rumors that you wont find a z06 under $90k. if thats true then even with markups on the gt500 its still not in the same territory. the gt500 is a tad over $40k and the z06 like you said is $64k... doesnt matter what the markups are, its a different class.
bottom line. lighter parts cost a lot more money... if you want a gt500 that weighs in around what the z06 weighs you're gonna be spending z06 money to get it.

I dunno, must just be me, but the people that pay a markup on a GT500 are fools. Ford is projected to make 7500 of those things, there is no sense in a markup like they are talking. Ebay is going for anywhere to 15k to 20k over msrp. Insanity. It doesnt have to be a Z06 to hang with, if not beat the GT500, get a stock C6 and be done with it. BUT I have to give a selling point to the GT, as it has 4 seats, although having ridden in the back of an 05 v6, they are basically useless.

i wouldnt go as far as saying they're useless... the 05+'s have more room in their back seat than i do in mine... but i definitely agree that people that agree to pay the markup on these cars are fools...
ford isnt marking up the prices at the dealerships, its the dealerships themselves... they see a chance to make some extra money and are going to take it. the price will come down when nobody buys them.

Lmao @ trying to rationalize buying a shelby over a zooh...i'm a big mustang fan just like any of you! But the fact of the matter remains that you're buying a sportscar not a family grocery getter! I don't think those seeking to buy a vette, take any consideration on whether or not they have 4 seats! The zo6 is a world class asskicer giving you supercar performance at a fraction of the cost! The shelby gt500 is a joke just like the "00 R. The performance numbers it puts down are just plain dissapointing for the power its packing and the money they'll go for!

you are totally missing the point... more money = lighter car, lighter car= faster car...
you pay more for the c6 and the z06 so they should be faster... why is it so bad for the shelby to not keep up when its heaver and cheaper

it will go for more because of dealer markup... and because ****in shelby put his name on it.
i totally agree that the vette is a great car but more performance comes at a cost. the c6 is at least 5 grand more than the shelby... im not talking about dealer markup here. dealer markups are so high because there are idiots that will actually pay that much.

I am more happy with the powerplant they built.
the Terminator Engine setup is consitered the most popular engine setup in fords history.
that being said, if the 5.4 has the same qualities as the 03/04 cobra engines, then we're going to have a lot of fun engines to play with, expecually if ford sells them as crate engines.
I cant wait to see the blown 5.4L engine in fox bodies and SN95's etc.

Yeah I agree on the powerplant comment.....I'm sure with a couple of little mods those things will be REALLY impressive, but the weight issue is where I get concerned. There is no reason for a mustang to weigh 4,000lbs.....figure it out ford!

Me too! I was just looking on the Mach 1 registry and some of the members made a good point that C/D can't really drive mustangs for crap....they were the same magazine that said the Mach 1 had IRS and could run the 1/4 mile at 13.8, while every other magazine were turning a times of 13.1-13.3. But I also heard the Road n Track magazine had the Shelby doing a 13.1....I will wait to see what Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords can do with it!
Regardless the Shelby is a fat pig and needs to go on a serious diet.....it looks like so far the 03/04 Cobra is still the KING!!!!!!
