HDTV's ?
I've been shopping around for a good hdtv for my xbox-360, and my media center pc. I've never owned an hdtv so, I don't really no mutch about them, I was wondering if some of you entertainment juncky's could point me in the right direction as to which tv is the best for the price. I would like to keep the price from 0 to about 1500 bucks.

that $1200 for the sony sounds like a great deal. I bought the Mitsubishi 52 DLP when it first came out and paid a premium for it $4k; the price on them have dropped like $1k now. The DLP picture in HD is just flat amazing!!

lol... Plasma is the key. Panasonic is on thier 8th or 9th gen display, far ahead of sony and phillips.
Best thing about plasma is the viewing angle is just as good as a crt.
Panasonic makes the best TV's hands down.
Lcos is a decent technology. but i dont know much about it.
DLP is great with HD programming and sucks with standard.
CRT Projection has crap for viewing angles but is better than DLP for standard def, not as hood in high def.
LCD projection is a decent technology, good with HD and SD but risks burn in...
Plasma's kick *** but have issues with black levels, thier halflife has gotten to the point where it wont hit half brightness for about 12-15 years. The plasma's are the best for affordable "pimp factor" With standard def programming plasma's are only beat by direct view LCD and direct view CRT. I have a panny plasma, i freakin LOVE it. Extremly sharp detail, can handle extremly fast action, looks great no matter what the programming is. plus you can view it from ANY angle, only at 80 degrees off axis plus do you see any issue with the screen, you actually see the pic and a reflection behind it. but nobody watches from that angle.
Direvt View CRT has the best pic of ALL, hands down no contest, but are limited to 32 inches in size and weigh 1000000 ****ing pounds.
the best in my view is flat LCD. It does everything a plasma does well, plus it has better black levels etc. But it is way expencive.
Not sure what is happening with it, but a lot of cellphones and in-dash deck displays use OLED. That stuff is the future right there. They can make it in high def, it is cheap to manufacturer, it is 1/32inch thick, and can be rolled up and used as blinds. lol
too bad when it his oxygen it breaks down the display. thats why they havent made em as TV's with exception of a few small prototypes.
Once they get the whole Oxygen corrosion thing figured out these are going to OWN the market. Go buy a 42 inch screen tv, and it comes in a tube. lol.....

the US government has been dumping money into the groupd that is developing OLED with intentions of creating flexable in-field tactical displays.
personally, i'd just like to turn off the tv and see it roll up.

I have a 51" Hitachi rear projection HDTV and I love it. I have had it two years now and its great. Its obviously not as small as a Plasma, DLP, or LCD, but it ws much cheaper at the time.
You can now get a descent plasma for a couple grand. There was a Vizio at Sams Club and other warehouse stores that got good review in the sound and vision magazine I have. It wasnt perfect, but for the $$ it was a steal.
btw this is the one I have, its only $899 now, that is a steal.
