Quit Moaning About Gas Mileage!!

For anybody here who bitches about gas mileage in their mustang...STOP! You bought yourself a mustang which has historically always had lower end gas mileage. If you want to get gas mileage than go out and get yourself a honda civic/prius/corolla/or an old geo prism. You knew about the gas mileage situation in the first place. If anything bitch about insurance...now that's a ripoff.

Slither 05-17-2006 10:09 AM

Thank you.

floppy 05-17-2006 10:11 AM

completely agree... if you cant afford gas you shouldnt be driving a mustang.

You also know what you are getting into with insurance and a mustang, so if your logic holds true you shouldnt bitch about that either.

Rabbit 05-17-2006 10:30 AM

I'll never bitch about gas mileage. I had a 98 Ranger 4 banger before I got my stang. I knew I wouldn't get as good as mileage as i did in my Ranger but was pleasantly suprised at how close of mileage I did end up getting..

Old Ranger 24MPG......GT 21MPG = "No bitching" well worth the trade off to drive a stang rather than that truck..

Though, only complaint I have is: I miss having a automobile that I didn't give a **** about, could throw/haul almost anything into and not worry about scratching, didn't care how clean it was, or have to care about $$ for mods, or going from $240 a year in insurance to $950 a year (liabliliy to full coverage)..........would I trade all this to have my truck back::::: HELL NO!

matrixpuba 05-17-2006 10:44 AM

preach on brother. thats why i drive a 93 4cyl notch through the week lol

Teal_Beast 05-17-2006 11:20 AM

I duno about you guys but my boosted v6 makes over 300whp and gets
28mpg highway

kcast 05-17-2006 11:40 AM

its not the mileage were bitching about its the GAS PRICES!!

Jack The Ripper 05-17-2006 11:53 AM

Exactly what I was thinking. You know, or should know, what you're getting yourself into in all aspects when you buy any car. At least based on any info that's currently available at the time. If you don't, and you buy anyway, then you have no cause to bitch about anything.

However, I think that you're mainly talking semantics here. The word "milage" is being used to really refer to the cost of fueling your vehicle, which translates to the cost of a gallon of gas.

So, say John says "I wish my Mustang got better milage. It costs so much to keep filling it up." and Bob says "I wish the gas stations sold gas for $1.00 a gallon, like back in the good old days. It costs so much to fill it up."

They're both bitching about the same thing: An empty wallet. :wallbash:

madmatt 05-17-2006 02:33 PM

I dont care about gas prices anymore. I know we are getting raped for no reason, however I also know there isnt a damn thing we can or will be able to do about it. Complaining about it does nothing but raise your blood pressure.

Damn right. I mean, complaining about the prices doesn't eliminate the fact that if you want to drive your car, then you are going to have to pay whatever the gas prices are, end of story. If you don't like it, find some other form of transportation because a gasoline engine is going to require gasoline to run.

agreed.....who the hell cares if you get 13 MPG in your stang, not everybody gets that........

EVERYBODY has to pay close to 3 bucks a gallon for gas though......

Sounds familiar...traded in the '03 Ranger 4cyl, for my '01 GT. I am a little bit surprised at the amount of gas this car uses, but I will get used to it again. My old '94 T-bird I used to have (4.6L) got around 10mpg after all the crap I did to it. So, really this GT which is getting 15mpg isnt too bad..I'm just not used to it yet. I fear I might miss the utility of the Ranger, but with that truck it was like...this thing is SLOW!...well at least I can haul stuff. Now its like, I cant haul much...but at least it hauls ass. Fair trade IMO. At the end of the day, it makes no sense to whine about something you can't control. You think our gas prices suck? Move to Europe. nuff said.

Yeah, and it sounds like a whiney V6....sucks for you. and 28mpg? Do you ever let the rpm's raise enough to reach that 300hp? Cool burnout pic.:beerchug:

Teal_Beast 05-17-2006 06:48 PM

lol the sound is growing on me :o its wierd.

But who knows now after the turbos, it will prolly just sound like turbo with the cutout open, either way no worries about gas

zigzaggthefag321 05-17-2006 07:10 PM

Cool, blowoff valves sound cool when they go off. I just HAVE to have the V8 rumble though. the 4.6 burbles and screams...me likey. When I got my GT last weekend there was a guy there who had just traded in his 02 V6 S/C and he fired it up for me...it sounded interesitng (was a Vortech blower) 28mpg is amazing if its true. my 4cyl ranger barely got that good mpg's.

RedFirevert04GT 05-17-2006 09:08 PM

The only thing that I hate was the timing of the whole new gas price hike. I put the blower on and the very next week prices were going through the roof. I was like **** ME!!! I wish I had seen that one coming. I woulda waited til I got my 83 back on the road to put a blower on the daily driver. We're getting used to it though. It's been interesting finding ways to make a blown car get decent milage. So far I'm back up to 17-18mpg.

madmatt 05-18-2006 10:31 AM

LOL but what you dont realize, is that Jon is 18, cant drive, is 18, and he cant drive, therefore, his insurance supplies him with all his prostate exams for the rest of his life...or until he turns 25...
