Default IRL driver Paul dana dies

I dont know if anyone follows IRL but maybe you saw the wreak anyway today. Paul dana, a rookie was killed in practice. His teamates danica patrick and buddy rice even withdrew fom the race which was the first of the season. Its a part of racing especially with indy cars running 200+ mph but I hate to see these things happen especially with a rookie just starting his career

NASCAR fan myself but I read about it on nascar.com and it is always aweful to hear about something like this. I had never heard of him but it always breaks your heart a little more knowing that he was a rookie and was said to have a prosperous career ahead of him. They said he had just got done signing lots of autographs for fans and kids and then I am sure they saw the accident happen. I haven't seen the video but hitting another car at 200 mph has to be aweful.

Yeah it was pretty nasty looking. Escpecially, because it was just practice. But anytime those guys collide at those speeds it looks nasty. Parts flying everywhere.. Sad day for IRL..

Just awful. I cant imagine having to watch that from the stands, or the other cars or anything. Some guy I work with today came up to me and was like "MAN DID YOU SEE THAT INDY WRECK!!" like, excited almost, and I wanted to be like...HE DIED!...I dont get it...

You gotta realize, most "fans" of those types of events only go for the wrecks. Death or no death. But it is tragic to see it happen, I heard he was told about the other car wrecking into the wall but didn't try to avoid it at all. Thats what Sportscenter said.

I heard his spotter told him to go low, but honestly, it didnt look like he slowed very much.

Yeah, 200 mph is alittle much. They probably said that just to get the spotter outta the clear. 'Cause it didn't look like Dana slowed any, like you said.

No one will ever know what really happened but he did not slow down at all. Carpenters car slide down the track but it was almost below the apron when he hit him and almost stopped, and this was after 5 or 6 cars already went by. He had to think carpenters car was still moving or the spotter confused him.

The thing I can't believe is that the other guy didn't get hurt what so ever & it looked like he got the worst of it.
