I do a lot of phone selling on ebay. If you want that phone unlocked, then you have to get someone who has Cingular to call in and give them their information. Then they have to tell them that they are going to go out of the country and that they need to use a out of the country SIM becuase they don't want all of the charges. Then they will Email you the instructions on how to unlock that phone and also the code to use.

and you can't swap SIM cards? it should be just like buying a new phone and putting your old sim into the new phone

Ok you are not making any sense. Let me explain this again. I have a motorola v557, which is Cingular branded(which means it doesnt work with any other sim cards besides cingular). My girlfriend has T-mobile service and want to get the phone unlocked to that she can use it with her t-mobile service.

yeah when a phone is locked you can't put any other sim card in it unless you unlock it. That's why when you sell a phone on ebay it's better to get it unlocked because more people can bid on it. Yea it's easy when you get someone whos got cingular. good luck man.

floppy just get the serial number from the phone and also the IMEI number. Call them up and say...."Hey i'm going to go to Europe and want to unlock my phone for an internation SIM. I just bought it so can you send me the number??!!??" It really is that easy. I do it all the time.

don't put the SIm card in when putting the code in. Just turn the phone on and put in the command that they gave you
