flowmasters

any opinions on the flowmaster 40 series mufflers? (good or bad) and what is the diff between the 40 series and the delta flow 40? i know i like the sound but will it hurt performance(not many mods yet)

spike_africa 02-03-2005 06:23 AM

its very common i mean vfery common muffler it sounds good. but its so damn common. it doesnt flow very well but its beter than stock.

The delta flwo is a quieter versoin on the standered 2 chamber or 40 series.

If i was gonna get flowmaster (like i ever would again) i would go super 40's they make more power then regular 2 chambers and are deeper.

gtnumber2 02-03-2005 06:27 AM

to me is you buy flows your buying the system for the sound not performance.

02wt5sp 02-03-2005 07:30 AM

yeah, but your not going to get too much difference between any muffler, as for as performance wise, maybe a few hp, if that. I just like the sound.

venom 02-03-2005 01:27 PM

I bought my flows about 6 years ago they are 2 chamber. Is it the same as 40 series?

spike_africa 02-03-2005 04:13 PM

2 chammber is the same as 40 series its the same thing just 2 different names. But the super 40's are totaly different. again i wouldnt buy flows ever again. i had them on my truck and i took them off as i ran 1 tenth slwoer with them on there.

madmatt 02-03-2005 07:21 PM

They have a great muscle car sound, but they drone like crazy. When you up the rear gear, this tends to get annoying, so Im going for something different and more quiet, and Im going with magnaflow mufflers. But no doubt, nothing beats a good ole off road midpipe and flowmaster two chambers sound. Man ill miss it...

Stevoneo 02-03-2005 07:54 PM

I have the Super 40.

Not common, in fact new muffler set out and has better performance and with my o/r x pipe, louder and better sound than most stangs out there.

See it here.
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cg...er/952448.html

just get the 2.5 size at least.

I will have sound clips up soon. Many people say that i am a crock load of crap when i say that they are good. Most have not even seen these on cars yet.

venom 02-03-2005 08:09 PM

I have them and like the way they sound here is a clip,http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/showthread.php?t=702

I am going to do a side by side comparison with my brothers slp catback once we get it installed.

BLoWbyU 02-03-2005 10:42 PM

i think i will get the flowmaster 40 series, i love the sound, hey venom is that sound clip with a x or h pipe? its sounds fargan awesome.i called a local muffler shop and said he would gimme the mufflers for $40 each and put em on for $20 each, thats cheaper than most of ive seen.

venom 02-04-2005 05:13 AM

I have weilded mufflers and bassani catted xpipe. You must get the xpipe as it really woke up the sound but then again my system had 6 cats 3 on each side on the stock system. Its all about taste and what you like.

Blowmasters.
Worst. Aftermarket. Muffler. Evar.

you would be better off buying a new OEM system.

jjtgiants 02-04-2005 10:36 PM

The only "flows" I'd go with are Magnaflows! Just my opinion

97MGT 02-04-2005 10:36 PM

Remember, Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis are using Flowmasters. It's all about da flowmaster. Dey be trippin' off da flows.

tedinde 02-04-2005 10:45 PM

Ive had flowmasters on probably my last 6 cars, the 1997 i just bought had some flowmasters on it, but rotten pipes. I put on a Magnaflow Cat back, The SOTPs feels a little stronger. Quieter than flows @ idle, and cruise, But you can definitly hear them when you get on it. And i really like the sound better. Everyone has Flowmasters. This kit was the same Price as the flowmaster cat back price, But They are Stainless steel. they should outlast the car.

I already have flowmasters and I love the sound and to me it's pretty damn loud but how much louder will it be if I get an x-pipe? And which x-pipe is the best?

Jeremy 02-11-2005 06:34 PM

Hmm, never heard flowmasters on a X pipe myself. The mid pipe will change your tone a lot though. And if you go offroad, then a whole lot.

BLoWbyU 02-12-2005 02:09 AM

i put my flowmasters on thursday, gave it a nice growl and rumble,a little louder than stock. i really enjoy the sound of a h pipe with the flowmaster original 40's, proboly my next step.

venom 02-18-2005 11:01 PM

I just posted vids of the slp setup http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/s...1667#post11667

02wt5sp 02-19-2005 05:19 AM

I have flows and a o/r x pipe, and I've had many people pull up next to me just to ask what kinda exhaust I have. Don't listen to all this, ooohhh blowmasters worst muffler ever crap. It all depends on what sound you want, or really how loud you want it. No one muffler is gonna give you a noticable hp increase, a whole catback yeah, but not a muffler.
