v6 Mustang Question

v6 Mustang Question
I've asked a few people this question and no one seems to be to sure as to whether it can be done, but i'll give it a whirl: I have a 2004 Mustang (40th Anniversarry Ed.) v6. It IS a v6, but since its 40th ed. it has the gt hood scoop, yet it's not functional-just for looks. I was wondering if there was any way that I can get an air intake that would make use of this scoop? I was thinking something like a straight shot that would sit under scoop and I could just take the "honeycomb" pattern out, but that may not work...

Yeah, just like Randy said. By the time all was said and done, you would have nearly $1500 invested (Mach 1 setup and hood work and paint) for about 5 hp gain...if that. That much money would get you half way to a super charger.

i've wondered about the same question before. not the mach 1 shaker but maybe fabricating something similar to what he's saying. take out the honeycomb insert, cut holes in the hood under the scoop and fabricate an intake system and filter that would sit under the hold in the hood. kinda like the ram air system on an ss camaro. i know there are people that can do it. i would love to try it not really for performance gains but for the coolness factor of making the hood functional. plus i really dont like the mac cold air intake that i have right now.
mine wouldnt be for a v6 but i couldnt imagine it being that much different.

it was on the car when i bought it, i dont like anything that comes on the car. i'd rather say i put that in than say i bought it like this.
i really want to attempt to make an intake that would utilize the hood scoop.
here's pics from a camaros ram air - http://www.americansportscardesigns....ages/s-610.jpg

could this be done? it'd be a lot of custom work but i already know how to form most of it. i even have an airbox from an older car in the garage that would fit in there. ideas? suggestions? reasons not to even bother? i know mine isnt a v6 so i should probably post this under 4.6 tech but it was brought up here.
