Default Custom Tune...what kind of gains?

So how much would a custom tune cost me? I'm talkin, going all out max hp kind of tune. I figure atleast $00 but I'm not too sure. Also, what are the max gains I could get on a slightly modified GT such as mine? Finally, are there any precautions or important things to remember when getting a tune? like, would it make daily driving difficult or are there any drawbacks besides a lighter wallet?

Just get a basic tune........like SCT X-cal 2 you wont get a big gain with your mods. Your car will actually run better. You can do a custom tune but its really not going to be worth it in my opinion you can do more with the money you'll spend. 5-10hp gain on your car if that.

Around here a dyno tune runs about $450 and includes the tuner. Not that much of a drawback except for having to use higher octane fuel.

I'd say wait to get it dynoed after you have done more performance mods.A mailorder tune would be fine with what you have got.

Get the SCT Xcal2, 400 dollars. Most dyno shops charge 100 dollars a tune/hour, and maybe like 50 or so for another tune. All you need is a simple good DD tune on w/e pump gas you want, best performance will come from 91 octane or 93 if you have it. I had a decent amount of mods and only saw 5HP increase with a dyno tune. If you have a auto, it will also stiffen up your shift points. And it will help run it much smoother.

And overall basically your car will run better. Personally i'd wait untill you either get gears or more performance mods.

I would wait until you have more mods. My GT ran pretty good with the diablo performance tune right out of the box, but my Mach ran really bad with it. My tuner was only able to get me to 292whp by using the predator to tune the car on the dyno, and then he told me he could get more out of doing a custom tune not using the predator.....so he talked me into it and got me to 304rwhp. If you have a good tuner he/she should be able to squeeze a little more out of a custom dyno tune. My tune was $300 (not including the predator, which I already had)
