Well i don't know if it was coincidence but my batter had taken a dump yesterday, i bought a new yellow top batter from autzone for like $80 bucks with an 8 yr warranty or something. Anyways, however after changing the battery it did not solve my problems. ..everytime i try turning it on, all i hear is a clicking sound, coming from the starter i assume. What else could it be? The alternator, i don't know if this makes any difference in diagnosing the problem, but yesterday after i swapped the battery, after i tried starting the car and it would come, on i tried turning on my head lights and after i pulled the switch, it took about 5 sec, for the lights to come on! ...and well i said what the hell, i'll try jumpstarting it, and it came on, but it hesistated a bit. I went for a 10 min. drive, came back home, parked it in the driveway. turned it off, and tried starting it again, and the same thing happened, nothing, just a clicking noise from the starter. ........what should i look for. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow since i have the day off, and today i get out of work until 7, which by then is dark as fawk to do anything.

Boy, sure does sound like a bad battery to me. Even with a new, good battery, the car should have started right up even with a bad alternator. The starter could be bad, but with the lights hesitating, Id'e say the new battery is dicked too. Have it load tested to be sure and try swapping on a different one.

How do your connectors look? Look for a nasty ground somewhere. That would also explain your problems.

 

Yeah, that's exactly what my old man told me yesterday. He was like, well it sure does sound like another bad battery. He said its not uncommon for brand new battery to be a bad one. All my wires are very clean.....i'm using my old mans truck now and i'm kinda glad, or else i wouldn't have something to move around with.

If your car is just clicking, its probably your starter. Get yourself another person to start the car while you whack the starter a few good times with a hammer. If it starts or gives you better results, thats the problem. Its hard to reach so youll probably need a pole and whack the end of the pole. its located right behind the passanger exhaust manifold (or header).

 

How hard is it to change a started on these cars? I have LT's and a tubular k, so it might make it easier. Also, is there a way i can check my alternator and make sure its not the culprit. I remember something about disconnectiong the battery after the car is running, if the car keeps on running the alternator is good, if it dies its, the alternator, something by that ways..

 

starter is pretty hard to really get at. i dont know the fitment of your long tubes buy my shortys sit right there. youll probably have to at least remove tire, spring, disconnect your calipers, and try and squeeze in there. its probably one of the jobs that could take 3 hours.

Well, i checked the alternator, checked the battery and nothing. Now the car is acting weird. Seems it has some kind of electrical problem. The factory Clifford alarm is acting very weird. My remote doesn't work at all. When i plug the battey up, the alarm starts going off and i can't turn it off because its not responding to my remote. I don't know what it could be. I figured out that its not the starter as the car seemed to start when we jump started it with the jumper cables. So if the starter was fryed, it wouldn't come out even with a jump start. ...anyways, after i plug the battery up the weird thing is that it acts as though the battery is dead, lights don't work, when i turn the ignition on nothing lights up, not even my gauge needles move, the only thing that lights up in my dash is the THEFT light. ....it acts as though the battery is dead, but the alarm is going off like crazy at full sound. ...I'm gonna see what i can do tomorrow, check all the interior fuses and talk to some friends and see what i can do.. I'm frustrated at this point. ( I didn't try jump starting it anymore because as far as i can tell its some kind of electrical problem and i don't wanna mess with it anymore and mess it up more by jump starting it...Hell i can't even hear the starter clicking anymore.

Sounds like maybe a nasty short. I wonder if you fried something when you jumped the car the first time. I think the key hear is the headlights. If thge car's ECU went, the lights would still come on fine.

Electricity follows the path of least resistance. The power is going to a ground somehow.
