Default Stroking and Forging?

Ok.....bare with me but I am just tryin to learn all I can about cars....what does it mean when people say to stroke or to forge parts of their cars? Again....I know it probably sounds dumb but I'm new to all of this. Thanks!

stroking increases displacement by moving the rod journal ( that is where the rods connect to the crank) farther away from the crank center line ( the very center of the crank). the only way you can get more stoke out of any crankshaft is by offset grinding it. its a prosess done by grinding one side of the journal, and leaving the other alone. this will cause an oval on the journal. all thats left is rounding it off. smaller rod bearings and/or shims are required.

forging is a prosses of forming metal. there is also casting. casting is where a mold is made and the material is poured into the casting. most stock engines are cast. forging is almost the same prosses except that the material is forced or pressed into the mold. think of ice cubes melted together (cast0. there is still gaps in between the ice, now compare that to a solid chunk of ice (forged). which one is stronger, the block of ice. majorly exagerated but the same theory.

if you have anymore Q's just ask. have fun

forging your internals lets you hold ALOT more horsepower with out the engine exploding
example with stock internals (non forged) you can have about 400-415 hp until your engine becomes a time bomb, with forged internals, you can go ...man id say 1000 ..

with stroking it increases horsepower
