Default ebrake handle cable help

well a couple of months ago i went to yank up on my ebrake and the cable that actually attatches to the handle snapped. i can see it laying down below my ebrake handle. has anyone ever replaced this section? i looked at autozone's website and all i can find are the cables that actually go to the wheels. didn't see one that went to the actual handle. if anyone has ever replaced one let me know where to get it. my inspection is expiring at the end of the month and i need this fixed.

looks like this one has been hanging for awhile out there..

I've only ever purchased those cables used but they're the same for all engines so there's plenty of them around. It's actually a simple job to do.. but a real PITA.. the tension spring needs to stay wound (or you have to rewind it) so you use a nail or pin to hold it when you disassemble and put the new cable in.. like I said, very simple conceptually, but always turns into a 2 hour job. Whole console has to come out to get to handle by the way

got one at the local junkyard for 10 bucks. easy enough to put in. you have to pull the tension till the wheel teeth catch and then you don't have to worry about holding it in place. just don't pull it too much or you will have to release it to let it out.

Well i think you can get that changed from a local mechanic who will also be aware of from where to get that cable. he will get that done for you why don't check it out.
