Happy With Your Fuel Mileage?

Happy With Your Fuel Mileage?
I am. I get close to 25 mpg regularly. I don't speed around everywhere, I follow the speed limit 90% of the time, but I get on it pretty often. I had to make a trip from here in central Arkansas to Branson, MO for a conference, about 300 miles round trip and used 12.2 gallons, which includes what I used earlier that week which was probably an extra 20 miles or so. That's 26 mpg right there, going through curvy mountain roads at 60-70 mph (hitting 110 at one point), being in 4th gear for good bits to due needing to be in the power to pass.
I use Lucas fuel injector cleaner once every couple of months, fuel filter was changed about 20K miles ago, use Motorcraft sp-505 (I think, they are one heat range colder than stock) plugs. Car is fairly stock as far as engine performance is concerned: RAI, no mufflers. I have always gotten better mileage in this GT than I ever did in my old V6.

I recently filled up on premium. Got 260 miles, and I had a quarter tank left. Which is where it was before I filled it up and it took 12 gallons. So basically I'm getting between 21 and 22 MPG with a v6 85% highway, 15% city.
I'm not happy with my car when I drive my s10 and get 350+ miles to a tank.

After reading FR and Spike's mileages I think my **** must be messed up. I do work almost all the time like Spike but ****... I only get 15-17. I've gotten 24 on the highway before and that was literally probably about 95% on cruise control right at 65 on the interstate in the right lane. That's the highest I have ever even dreamed about.
Which is another reason why I am going to do a tune-up once I get my car back from the body shop. I already changed the oil and put in Mobil1 synthetic, which I've always wanted to do. I'm thinking swap out all the fluids, change the spark plugs and fuel filter and clean my air intake assembly/filter should do it. Am I missing something? About 16 seems ******* horrible.

When you fill up it's just mileage/gallons, Mine has actually gotten better since i got it... I did a tune up last summer. The EGR was plugged and whoever gapped the spark plugs did a terrible job, I used to get 15-17... then again, i used to drive a little more aggressive too

You all are lucky. Whether I'm on it or not, I only get 9-11 Miles Per Gallon.
Edit:
I actually find it sad that my 2004 Dodge Durango Limited V8 5.7l Hemi gets better Gas Milage then my car.

I just don't understand how you guys can make over 20mpg while still getting on the throttle. I have a 99 GT and I get something like 13-14mpg, but usually 50% of the time I gun it after a light. I just got the fuel system cleaned and I am installing a CAI, so I hope to see that the numbers increase on my next fill up.

I have a loose converter so I understand my bad MPG's I also dont go over 35-45 MPH on my city driving...small heavy loads no matter how much I stay in vacuum MPG's are gonna blow *****. Now when I drove from San Diego to Phoenix I managed 21 MPG sustained 75 mph at 2500 rpms. Oh I also have a blower with 42# injectors and see boost a lot. Thats for the noobies that dont know about my car.

Doing all city driving getting on it sometimes from a stop i get about 15-16.
Highway drving 55+ speeds up to 85, I get 26. 5.0 HO with a manual, and I do get on it on the highway sometimes too.
Sucks for yall getting crap mileage in V6's

I spent a good 3 months calculating fuel mileages every fill-up and here's the data I found.
Car: 2001 V6 - 93 Octane Tune
City Mileage:
Lowest: 16.3
Highest: 19.7
Average: 17.6
Highway Mileage:
Lowest: 18.7
Highest: 22.1
Average: 20.9

Wow, some of ya'll really are getting poor gas mileage. I know that I don't always get great mileage, but I usually only calculate it during trips, but about 25mpg is the norm for me. That what I get when I drive to Memphis, and back home to Texas with are both about 300 mile round trips. I burn a full tank of gas in an hour and a half when I do open track though. I've actually had to pull off track early due to running out of fuel quicker than expected.

When I first started driving my Mustang, I got literally 10 mpg during a GOOD week. I've been driving better and following the speed limit for a while now, rarely flooring it like I used to. I get a good 19-20 mpg. And this is for a V6

Are you always driving around on the nitrous tune now lol.

Damn you people that are getting 20+. I average 18-20 mpg to a tank with not much city driving. I know I need to change my fuel filter, but could it be that bad that it takes like 5 mpg? I got to get under the car soon to change that **** out.

I am gettin 23-26 mpg and I drive a V6. I usually do city driving and it might also help that I don't step on it a lot most of my driving is really just cruising I am never really in a hurry to get anywhere but occasionally I do step on it a little.
