J-Mod
I know theres been a buncha previous threads about this but i still need to know a bit more. I know you need to expand some holes by drilling them, the confusing part is whats with all the main control units on the directions? Also do i need to do anything with the solenoids, or for the j-mod is all i gotta do is drill the holes? I would just buy the valve body pre-done but vapauto doesnt do it anymore, and i cant have my car waiting for 2 weeks while i mail mine to him.

I'm going to be taking my Performance Automatic valve body out of my AODE either at the end of this month or sometime in May. If you can wait I will sell it to you. They sell for 300 on summit racing. Since mine is used and still works like a champ I will let it go for 150 shipped.

No thanks, im doing this mostly because the main costs are replacement gaskets and new oil. Its cheap, good for my trans. and takes some time up which is good because im bored.
|
Anyone know?

All you do is drill some holes and replace your transmission fluid and filter that's it. If your fluid is new you can filter it and reuse it if you want to so its even cheaper. However for the price of fluid and since you're in there I would replace it.
Have you looked at the updated directions on the crownvic site that I have posted a ton? |

SCT Tune + J-Mod = BARK BARK, its a great mod for sure!

go to www.tccoa.com and follow those instructions for the proper year you have. I know the different years and all gets confusing but read carefully and follow carefully. I did mine and it worked great. You don't HAVE to have a programmer, the mod firms up the shifts plenty enough the bark the tires. If your're careful (and a little lucky) you could re-use the gaskets if they don't tear. Keep it clean and remove the burrs from drilling. The accumulator springs are cheap enough. It takes more time then anything. Don't re-use your fluid. It is cheap and not worth messing with. It probably needs new anyway. Take your time, read carefully and you'll be fine if you feel comfortable doing something like that.

auto mustangs have radiators that allow trans fluid to flow through to help keep it cool.

I truly didnt know this :(

Anyone near central texas thats bored wanna help me with this? Im still a little confused and im about to start picking up the supplies for all this soon. Sadly i gotta have my brother buy tranny fluid because its an inhalant..

Use nothing but Motorcraft Mercon V. If you look around at that tccoa site there are step by step instructions. It is not that hard, but it is confusing with all the info. It is just drilling out select holes to proper size, eliminating one spring and replacing another with a part number they provide.
|
My main problem is getting to the point where you actually start the drilling, i know what to do when i get there but getting there seems impossible. Im tempted to drop it off at a performance tranny shop and say, here do it.
Edit: Luckily i found a video that describes pretty well how to do it. |
