FRONT END THUNKING
Its been a while! But I'm glad to be be back on the Forum!
My 2004 GT has recently given me the first problem I've had since I bought it used in October 2007. It now has just over 55k and is my DD. In the last month I have been noticing a "thunking" noise from my front end especially when braking and then when I let off the brakes at a stop. I can now here it when I hit a dip in the pavement. Took my car to a tire and brake place and the problem was diagnosed as being bad bushings on the front lower control arm. I was told that the bushings cannot be replaced and that the entire assembly must be changed and that would be big bucks. The mechanic told me that this is a uniquely a Ford problem. Am I hearing the truth? Only mods: MGW Short Throw MagnaFlow Cat back |
No, they can be replaced. Both Energy Suspension and Prothane make replacements. You just have to press the old bushings out of the sleeves, and then press in the new ones.
