Difference between exhausts
I have a 2001 mustang gt with 5.0 stroker kit in it...I had a h pipe with out cats on it before and it sounded good but my buddy gave me a deal on a mac pro chamber x pipe..i put that on the car and for some reason i dont think it sounds as mean...anyone know anything bout these two and which one i should go with or even another one let me know.

go with the sound you like better, my dad has a bassani high flo catted x on his mach 1 and it sound orgasmic. i on the other hand have a mac o/r h and i love the sound.... basically IMO X pipe sounds more exotic, H pipe sounds more muscle car

I've had several exhaust setups on my car. I ran an o/r x for about 3 days, hated the way it sounded, took it off, and sold it on craigslist and used to money to buy an o/r H pipe. Personally, I'd go with the H pipe. My car sounds sooooooooo much better now.

i should have said that both pipes are without catts...i just thought the h pipe was a deeper sound...and is there a hp gain diff and which will be better to breathe...going to run some healthy nitrous and want the best for my set up

H pipes are generally "deeper" sounding. And i think they tend to breathe a little better. The difference in hp gain is little to none truly. Look at it this way, if X pipes were the way to go, why does Ford put H's on our cars from the factory

Nascar uses x-pipes, LeMans V8s use x-pipes, all Australian cars use x-pipes.
X-pipe is the best way to go. Checkmate. An h-pipe just sounds like every other mustang out there, an x-pipe will make people scream "GOD DAMN!!!".
Trust me, I've had three cars with x-pipes and all of them get the same response from people, that they're the most badass sounding cars they've ever heard.

Eh like i said i ran an x pipe on my car when i first got it n absolutely HATED it. Didn't like the sound at all. And now i run an h pipe on my car, and i assure you, my car does NOT sound like every other mustang out there. To each his own though. In the end, its ultimately personal preference, and what sounds the best to your own ear. I get compliments daily on how good my car sounds, whether it be someone at a gas station, in a parking lot somewhere, even had people at redlights say "holy **** man that mustang sounds badass"

Yeah thats what i had too. Super 44's and the x n it sucked lol

thanks for the input..i am looking for a deeper louder sound...especially with the 5.0 stroker..it should sound pretty mean...i think i will go with the h pipe for now..just didnt know what they hipe was about the pro chamber.

The prochamber is not an X pipe. Its basically like having another small muffler or resonator in the mid pipe. Its just an open box that lets the exhaust flow where ever it wants to go. That is why it sounds so much quieter.

I'd say just go with a regular o/r h-pipe, something cheap but stainless steel like the pypes systems. There's no need to pay more than $200 for two bent and welded pipes.

I've heard nothing but horror stories about UPR and Summit with rusting, horrible fitment, and bolt fitments. I have had two Pypes x-pipes with no problems. Of course, most UPR stuff is cheap (no offence to UPR, but its true). Just my $0.02

I was wondering about doing something diff..i was thinking because the prochamber act like an muffler, if i could just run pipes out the back straight from back of prochamber withno other mufflers...would this sound mean or would it be ungodly loud...wanting some input...going to have work done tomm

I've got a summit h pipe and haven't had any problems, with fitment or rust.

thanks for the imput everyone..i have on last question...today i went back to the h pipe and that really helped..sounds mean again...the guy that does my exhaust suggested that i go to single chamber flowmasters instead of dual chamber...he said would really set it apaart and make it loud...anyone done this and is this a good idea.

this is directed more toward spike africa...i was looking at the slp loudmouths 1s...i have looked at slps online but is very hard to get a realistic sound clip oveer the net..i was wonder how much diff is there going to be with loudmouths with my of h pipe, instead of my flowmaster 44s. I want the car to be really loud and stand out and not sound like the other mustang guys that run around my area. If they will make big diff then i will order then soon.
