Default Finally bought a tuner

Just bought the SCT Xcal3 from AM I had a gift certicicate laying around and I figured that since I am buying nitrous next summer I should have a tuner so I can buy an canned email nitrous tune from VMP to maximize the gains from my nitrous when the time comes.

Yep. I love my VMP tune. Easily one of the best things I ever did to my car.

Let us know how it responds to the mods you have now. I am interested in getting a tuner like that, but i want to hear some more real reviews.

I'm surprised so many people are waiting. I haven't heard a single bad thing about justin's tunes.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I've heard tuners are ok, but a custom tune is better(but more $$). Granted you should only get one if you are done modding or atleast for a year or more or obviously after any major mod. I talked to my friend Jeff at Livernois Motorsports(I'm sure you guys have heard of them.) and he said I might as well wait until I'm done modding and pay $600 to get the max HP out of the mods and my car, rather than spend $300+ right now if I'm planning on modding more down the road. That qucikly changed my opinion but let me know how your tuner works!

I wish I had gotten tuned sooner. My car made almost 15rwhp more with a tune. Which is pretty crazy for a n/a car. My car gets better mpg and is faster all around. Over all can't beat it and wish I had done it sooner.

I am taking the car to the drag strip on the 25th and I will be running the stock tune vs the 93 octane performance tune while running 93 octane to see the difference that it makes

my goal is to do two comparative runs for each

since I have an auto it will be punch it at the 3rd amber I will scan and post the time slips

Why don't you just order a vmp 93 octane tune now and then when you get nitrous, get another tune for that. Then if you don't want to be running your nitrous tune all the time you can switch over to the other vmp tune? (For example, if you're broke and don't feel like filling the bottle for a few weeks)

From what I have heard VMP is very good but realistically how much more horsepower do you think that he can get on a 93 octane tune vs what AMs 93 octane canned tune will give

if it's say 5 then sure it's worth the 50 bucks but on his site he has a dyno showing he only got 8rwhp out of a 95 v6 with basically the same mods I have from stock to 93 octane

http://www.vmptuning.com/forum/showthread.php?t=925

Edit: it does not specify the octane so I am making an assumtion if he got 8rwhp out of it on 87 octane then I am well and truely impressed

Since you already have the tuner just rock what you have for now. When you go to the track just turn o/d off and punch it on the 3rd amber light like you said. Do both runs with the motor up to full temp and you can get pretty consistant results asmussing the 60' is the same which I think it will be. As I don't see you spining the tires out of the hole with a stock stalled auto v6 with no gears or power adders.

I'm gonna guess it's gonna drop you a tenth, maybe a bit more and close to 1 mph extra on the top end.
