Cool Automatic...

So, my third gear shift takes forever on my new tranny, it just fuggin hangs and my car jerks around.... That any sort of problem?

The reason for this thread: the bus I'm on shifts harder than my gt. How can I go about makin it shift harder/better without ruining the tranny in 50k miles? I have an sct x3 that I could get a tune on, but will it hurt the tranny? Jmod?
And how much is a c4 or w/e swap?

Do you mean that the 2-3 shift is really taking a long time or you just wish it was faster. Regardless when was the last time the fluid was changed and do you have a tranny cooler on your car?

If you want to beef the tranny up the best way is the J-mod along with a cooler to help keep the heat out of the tranny. Heat is what kills any auto tranny. If your in TX where it gets really hot and you don't have a cooler it should be your very next mod.

What ever you do to your tranny make sure you get a tranny cooler. I live in Kingwood which is about 45 minutes from you and you know how hot and humid it is in Houston. When I changed my shift points and added my procharger my stock auto didn't even last 15k miles before it took a dump. I have a built lentech transmission now with a transmission cooler and I love it. you can get a built transmission from lentech for $2500 dollars minus the tq converter(expect to pay $900 for a pi converter), and then you have to pay labor unless you install it yourself.

Does shift points mean the amount of RPMs your tranny shifts at on an auto?

If so what is the point when you can manually shift it when you want to, so why bother with the changing shift points? Unless of course you do not want to manually shift.

I pulled a 13.9 1/4 in a stock GT with an auto trans using it manually.

Oh and thanks for the tip on a tranny cooler that may be by next MOD.

That's not at all what I mean. 3rd gear hangs indeffinately it seems, so there must be a problem there. You can change the shift pressure with a tuner, which is what I'm interested in. These stock automatics shift slower than molasses.

Car is 13k miles - I have never changed the fluid, no tranny cooler.

and white, I now live in College station, lol

Sounds like a warranty job to me. 13k on an 08 should be covered.
