Loudmouth 1 or 2's?????

i have a 99 cobra with bbk longtubes, and a catted H-pipe. ive been told the 1's sound badass on cats on my setup but does anyone have any input on the 2's?

zigzagg321 08-08-2009 10:58 AM

SLP loudmouth anything on a mustang sounds like shit. except for the new mufflers they have...powerflo I think they are called.

spike_africa 08-08-2009 06:14 PM

If you want loud and no tone then they are cool. I had the LM1's they were cool for about 4 days.

Pilks 08-08-2009 06:21 PM

I have a 98 gt

slp catted X
with slp loudmouth II

sounds great when i get on it, quiet when i cruise, and a nice sound at idle

nothing extreme and annoying, just a nice sounding v8

Pyrosis 08-08-2009 06:42 PM

what are you guys using for exhaust and what do you think is the best for the cobras. sound wise?

spike_africa 08-09-2009 05:42 AM

Everyone is gonna have a different taste as to what they like the sound of. Like me I am old school and like H-pipes and chambered mufflers, so thats why I rock Mac catbacks because they sound good and flow way better then flowmasters.

Pyrosis 08-10-2009 12:18 AM

mac sounds like a good one then...i am also an oldschool type sound but havent heard enuff exhausts to know which one will give me that

spike_africa 08-10-2009 06:31 AM

Just jump on Youtube and check some videos out. My friend has a 99 cobra with long tubes, o/r H, and a dynomax ultraflow catback and it sounds really good.

If you want something loud, but has more tone than the LM1/2 I'd check out the Magnaflow Magnapack catback.

Steeda21 08-18-2009 09:54 PM

i have bbk catted xpipe with dumped magnapacks and its amazing..incredibly beastly

The last customer's car that I installed an SLP cat back on without converters only thought it was cool for four minutes. He turned around after a mile and came back to get his stock h pipe put back on until he could order another cat back.

thanks for the input guys...looks like loudmouths are out of the picture now im just waiting on the money for either mac, magnaflow, or dynomax i'll have to check out the clips tho

Yeah, they're loud but that have an incredible sound to em.

You can listen to clips of many brands of exhaust at

http://www.mustangexhaust.com

Helped me with my decision to go with a mac offroad H with a dynomax ultra flo system.

garrett01001 08-19-2009 12:52 PM

cherry bomb sounded the best for the s197 gt

WaterDR 08-19-2009 01:44 PM

Exhaust is personal. I have had LM1 for years on my car and still do. For the most part, though, if you run this catback, you need to have cats on the car. Currently, I do do not, but I have a Pro-Chamber.

My car is reasonably quiet while crusing, but loud as F at WOT. I live in WI and it is not my DD. If I lived elswhere, or if I had to drive the car everyday, it is too loud.

Pyrosis 08-19-2009 06:53 PM

why do you need to have cats on it??? i have high flows on mine but curious to know why

DJ Fury 08-20-2009 06:32 AM

Tis illegal in most states to remove the cats for emissions purposes. Check your own states laws as well as inspection rules.

For me, I live in Virginia, it is illegal to not have cats but most cops around here don't care about the noise as long as I'm not goin WOT through a quiet neighborhood. And to beat an inspection I cut 2 generic cats in half and welded them over the midpipe so it looks like they're in line.

Switch 08-21-2009 08:40 AM

I've also seen people leave the cats and and just hollow them out.

Steeda21 08-21-2009 01:10 PM

id rather have just another off road setup and have the catted xpipe for smog runs
