Amp in protect mode...

Amp in protect mode...
So Ive recently tried to install this little 260-2 amp that Ive had forever...and Ive everything hooked up, but the damn thing is like..stuck in protect. I guess it could be the ground cable doing this? I have it grounded to one of the screws that holds my tail lights in. Seemed like the only place I could put it, really. However, I guess I should scrape the paint off around that area? I know for sure the power and remote lines are good, and the only things Im not sure about is where the wires from the sub should go...left and right bridged, or left and right, and also Im unsure where the rca cables go into the back of my cd player. Other than that everything is hooked up correctly.
Any advice?

if u are unsure about your rca cables your cd player may not be compatible
how old is it
your ground should be i think less than 3-5 inches away from your amp and YES you should try to scrape the paint off the bolt
you can also drill in the floor board of your trunk
i have mine like that
looks nice depending on the location
