Default Dome Light wont go off.

So here is my situation. I was at the gas station today. When i got back into my car and closed the door started the car up and the dome light was still on. So i got out made sure all the doors were shut locked it and the light was still on, next I made sure the headlight **** was turned all the way to where the dome light would be on and it wasnt. So i go to lock my car like normal and normally when i press the lock button twice the horn beeps once. This time when i lock it the horn beeps twice which is an indication that one of the doors would be open and of course all of them were closed. The only thing i could think of is one of the switches ( which are inside the door panels?) is either shorted are stuck in the open position. I took the light bulb out from the dome light so it wouldn't drain the battery. Before i take it to the shop do guys have any other suggestions on what might be the issue or have i nailed it right on?

Oh and its a 2004

Make sure your headlight dimmer switch is off. You might have accidentally hit it and it might have turned on.

I've had that happen before. I cleaned out my car and a few hours later I came back outside and saw my dome light was on and wouldn't turn off. I freaked out, and then found out it was my headlight switch that I hit while I was cleaning it.

well regardless i need to get it fixed. Im not going to wait 20 in the car just for the light to go off lol

Im willing to bet its the driver side switch that is messed up since thats the door that is used the most. I hardly have passengers.

lol of course you would want it fixed but the switch is your best be unless the headlight switch is broken making it like its turning the dome light on but unlikly

check the switch in the door hinge area...should be a plunger type thing that gets pushed when you open the door, signaling the dome light to go on, and it may just be stuck in and wont extend when you take the pressure off of it by opening the door.. try to pull it out if its there...I dont remember off hand where it is really...but easy to look for.

and **** blacksunshine...the ****?? you think you can just come on the internetz and be human?? pfffft. lol.
