2003 Mustang gt 40,000miles

I know this is an age old problem that mustangs have, but I just want to be sure as to what everyone else in here has experienced. Ok got new tires about 4 months ago, and lowered my car about 1.5 months ago with Steeda sport springs and threw in the offset bushings to eliminate bumpsteer. At 55-68 or so I have the ever so common steering wheel shake and its pretty much gone at 70+. My question is, who had this problem, and did a balancing job fix it. Ive also read up on a Dynamic balance, do I need this or what? I had an older civic (I know I know..dont start with me) that constantly had a shake and I could never really eliminate it. With the mustang Ive had it aobut 6 months now and Ive always noticed it a little, but now its a little more noticable. Ok last question, will the occasional burst of speed (110+mph) cause me to lose wheel weights on the inside lip of the rim? If so should I get the stick on weights?

 

get a dynamic balance, you definitely want weights on the inside and outside of the rim. stick on weight suck and will fly off way before a hammer on weight will, or at least mine used to when i had them on my old car. Balancing should fix your problem going normal speeds, and during a burst of over 110 you should be ok as long as they do it right (the computer tells them how to do it if they screw it up they should get a new job), but you might throw a weight and then it will feel like youre going over a cobblestone road.

 

Have you check your alignment? Your tires could be wearing out unevenly in the front.

 

Yeah after I lowered the car, I drove it for about 3-4 days (approx. 200 miles) to let the springs settle. Ihave the print off which shows that it is in allignment, but it still seems to pull slightly to the right. I shruged this off, I once heard all new cars have a slight right pull in order to avoid a car traveling into oncoming traffic in case a driver fell asleep or some other inane reason. Ill get the balance tomorrow I think it will fix the prob, why do the Mustangs do this I have read and heard so many complaints about the steering wheel vibration?? I hardly ever hear of this concern with other cars and I never had this problem when I had a Trans Am or any of my trucks.
Think Ill check the rotors next if the prob isnt solved, anyone know where I can upgrade to the cobra or Mach 13 inch brakes for hella ch eap????

 

The Balance did it and even took care of the pull to the right I had. Two rims had completly thrown all of their weights. Hopefully it was just shotty workmanship and this wont happen again.

 

Glad its fixed, never bring your car to the place that balanced the tires the first time. If they cant handle balancing a tire they shouldnt be working on cars.
