Aluminum D/S ?

ok, i saw an aluminum d/s that i would like to get, but here is my question, on my 08gt auto, my d/s is not one piece, it's segmentated, but the alum d/s is a "one piece" is there a reason why my stock d/s is set up like that, could it be for vibration purposes, and if i put the alum d/s in, will it be alright. I like the notion that the alum d/s can handle up to 600hp, b-cuz in the near future i'm gonna have the whipple s/c put in. So, bottom line is, will the "one piece" d/s be alright. ?

The one piece drive shaft is fine on 05+ models as long as you get the ones made for 05+ only. The ones for 94-04 will not work from what I read.

One piece aluminum driveshafts are good upgrades for the 05+ cars due to the fact the the stock pieces are heavy and two piece. Like Spike said, just get one for your year.

I'd get a steel replacement instead. Cheaper and unlike Aluminum, it doesn't have a set life span. Plus, Steel shafts have a smaller diameter which trust me, if you ever have to work w/ the e-brake, that extra 1/2" is a blessing.

ok, so there is a "one piece" steal d/s that i can purchase. but why did they put a two piece d/s on the 08gt's, i figure it must me for a mechanical reason like vibration or something, or maybe it was cheaper 4 them, dunno. what is the weight diff between stl & alum. ?

Wait, so in the '08s they're two piece driveshafts? Interesting...are the 2-pieces connected by a center joint? If so, it might be there to reduce wear and tear when the suspension flexes.

That and probably to maintain the pinion angle since the S197s are long.

Go and buy one from what I hear the difference is noticeable with "lighter" response

yep, two piece jointed in the middle. one thing i found out, one reason is to stop vibration. And prolly from what some of you suggested. I will wait awhile longer, see if anybody has any problems with'em.

Hey there, new to this forum (havent done the intro yet). If your going to get an alum DS make sure you get it from a dealer who is reputable and stands behind the product. A word to the wise is sufficient.
Ive had mine on for about 12K miles and its no stranger to sudden acceleration with no problems.
