Default need some help here

Hello every im new to the forum i have an 03 mustang gt.
any here is my question

I bought the car with an exhaust on it (SLP). and i am buying a cold air intake eather tomorrow or early next week.

well i was thinking about getting gears 4.10(what else would i need to get to install them?)
but a couple of my friends say its not worth it and say i should get a chip.
i can not afford both of them i can only get one as of right now.
What should i get? the chip or the gears??

Thanks in advance

Gears > Chip. You'll feel SO much more result from the gears than the chip.
Of course, you could always get both. : D http://www.americanmuscle.com/xcal2-...r-oil-kit.html

You'll need gear oil and a bearing kit for the install. If you take it to a shop they can provide those, but it will be cheaper to purchase them from americanmuscle or stangmods.com.

You'll also want to look into getting a T-lok:

Gears > Chip x2

If you get the gears only, like Zip said you'll want the gear oil and bearing kit (because gear whine sucks), and probably a speedcal to correct your speedometer.

Overall that xcal2/gears combo is a great deal because you can get both of those close to what you could get the (1) Livewire tuner for. Good deal. And definitely look into a T-Lok sometime.

I'll be honest, I don't know what a spline traction is. But if you're referring to a bearing kit, yes. You can get the gears without a bearing kit, but you'll more than likely have quite a bit of gear whine and the gears might be subject to more wear with the worn out bearings of your stock gears.

EDIT: Thanks, lazerred. For some reason I thought he had a sixer.

Since you need to fix the speedo for the gear change might as well save up get a tuner to fix the speedo and do the gears and all at once.
