Default 2008 GT Questions...

Ok I'm 17 and I just got my brand new 2008 GT two months ago. So far I've installed axle-back exhaust and the Roush Shifter. But my next question was should I get the Diablosport Tuner or the SCT XCalibrator??? My previous car was a '02 SVT Focus and I used the Diablosport for it, but with the air intakes on the GT requiring a tuner I'm not really sure which way to go.

I've never used the SCT tuner, but it must be pretty good for Steeda to quit offering the Diablosport on their website. I'm just wondering which way is the best to go and which way will give me the greatest outcome in power. I plan on getting 4:10 gears and either the Shaker System or the Steeda High Velocity intake, but I mean i don't plan on strapping on a blower (for the next year or two at least) or anything major like that. Can anyone give me some insight?? I'd appreciate any of your help. Thanks.

Ohhh and just another question..would the shaker system be just as good as a cold-air intake or is it better to just stick to the cold-air??

If you have a 5 speed, go with a tuner such as Brenspeed to buy their packages from. Not too sure about for an automatic, as it really sucks.

You should get a tuner/cai package that has been setup for those mods. justin at vmptuning.com has nice tuner/cai packages for good prices pluse hes one of the best tuners around. The shaker system will add no more hp then the cai. I would save the money and get the regular cai setup.

And Diablo and SCT are both good products with alot of support so it doesn't really matter.

and he's probably envious because you're 17 with an 08 GT, and he's like 40 with an 05 gt. LOL. JK Trucker, I don't know how old you are..

Hell I'm 18 and I have a shitty 2000 V6 so all of you can go to hell in my book..lmao

I got mine when I was 20. My father works for Union Pacific RR, so we get X-Plan on all of our vehicles. My mother's Charger R/T ended up being 10 under sticker and my GT/CS was about 8 under. Helps when you have that X-Plan Pin! Not quite as good as employee discount, but 1% above invoice isn't anything to complain about either.

As for the car, congrats! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine. Personally, i'd go with the JLT2 and the XCal3. If you're planning on modifying later(no f/i), i'd get the package from any place that offers free tunes for life(is that AM?). If you ARE planning on adding a blower or something in the next year or two, i'd just buy a regular K&N or CnL intake since you won't be using the same hand-held tuner and will just sell it for a heck of a cheaper price than you bought it. Entirely up to you.

Yea the A-Plan helps, but the X-Plan isn't much worse. I love the GT/CS but the only reason I'd get it is for the looks (no offense) and I plan on getting the C-500 or Stalker kit anyways, so that really wouldn't do much good. I definitely LOVE my GT. Me and my dad switch cars between his '04 Cobra and my GT because he's likes driving my car (which I don't understand at all compared to his car).

I'd like to get a supercharger...I mean if i could save up the money to get one I would...but I probably won't be able to. I was going to just get the Steeda C.A.I. and XCal3 and let it be over with but my bank screwed up my account so I can't even buy anything now.

I think AM gives you free tunes for life so I'll probably go there and get my gears while I'm at it. Thanks guys...and uhh sorry you guys are envious of me. Look at it this way, you guys all make more money than me.....hahaha.

I didn't have an 05 (well it would've been a 1987 at the time; Christ I feel suddenly really old) when I was 17.

dude, your lucky. and i am going to be completely honest with you man. before you get a super fast car, make sure you can handle that super fast car before you start driving it hard. i don't want to see a news report about a 17 year old in an 08 mustang GT that died in a car crash. i don't know how well you drive, but you might have some skill, seeing that you used to own an 02 SVT Focus. but when you get the SCT Xcalibrator 3 tuner and Steeda CAI on your car, drive it normal. gas prices can rob you blind.

Yea i know to watch it. I took the focus to the track a few times, and although it's not a 300hp GT, I still know my limits. I don't drive crazy anyways, because of gas and if I ever did get into some "trouble" I'd have to sell it because my insurance would skyrocket.

I wouldn't doubt it. Speaking of insurance, I'm curious to hear what a 17yr old gets rate wise for a new GT. And if it's under $3,000/yr, put out a warning for PColav6 because I think that if he sees one more person getting a better rate than him, he's going to go on a shooting spree.

sh... it wasnt a dui... its a wreckless driving and the ticket says Alcohol may have been involved... which is definetly was lol.. but my ticket was only 118.50... thats less expensive than any speeding ticket so.. but i got no points on my license so insurance didnt see it.. and the car i got in the accident with didnt have collision so it didnt cost them money and the truck i hit was fine no damage, i ran right up under his frame/trailer hitch...

thats right... speaker cable and yarn are holing it up and i spliced the wires
