what is better?(oil) 5w-20, 5w-30, etc..

Default what is better?(oil) 5w-20, 5w-30, etc..

should i be putting in 5-20 or 5-30 or what? the past few changes i have been using quaker state(sp?) 5w-20. reccomendations?

It really doesnt matter, Ford only switched to 5-20 b/c they claim they get better gas mileage out of it. They will basically protect the engine the same. Use whatever it says on the oil cap or whatever is readily available to you.

Doesn't matter. I use 10W-30. Ive read that 20 weight oil can be thicker at times than 30 weight. I've also read that the smaller the difference between the cold weight and hot weight the better, like 10w-30 would be better than 5w-30.

Use what the manual says. However, keep in mind that if you want to play around w/ the grades, use thicker stuff in the summer and thinner stuff in the winter. Personally, I switch around between the two (5W-20 and 5W-30) in which the latter I'll use mainly during the warmer months or if I can't get my hands on 5W-20.

I use 5-20 because i live in Las Vegas, and it doesnt get to cold so I like runnig something a bit thicker due to the Excessive Heat
