Default 99-04 Auto GT???

Guys that have 99-04 automatic gt chime in please....how do you like the auto tranny in your mustang??? is it worth getting the manual?? Just alot of traffic here and i dont know if i want either a manual or an auto.

I never driven one that was manual and just wondering if its hard for stop and go traffic. Just remeber im overseas and plan on getting a gt soon and traffic is way worse than america. Anyone can chime in manual or auto guys....thanks again for any help.

I like my 01 gt auto, but the "WTF did you get an auto Mustang" gets old. I was in the same situation, looked for a long time to find a stang that I liked and when I saw the price on mine I couldnt let it pass. I wish I had a stick, more fun to drive and rip through the gears. But if traffic is stop n go all the time a stick may not be so fun.

Auto is a great tranny just needs a few simple cheap mods to keep it running cool and good. I would add a tranny cooler, and do the Jerry Mod which is a valve body mod to let more fluid flow threw the tranny to make it hold the bands harder and not slip as much on shifts so it shifts faster/firmer and thus makes it create less heat. Those are the 2 best cheap mods to do to the auto and both are very cheap to do. After that a converter is the way to go.

I have a Auto in my 2004 DSG, and I have talked to some that do have manuals and in heavy traffic they wish they had the Auto aswell, since its killer on the back left leg w/ the clutch!

It doesnt have all the pickup right away as a manual, but if you get some small items done such as a tune, and a few of the other things done mentioned above it can be just as good!

well if your in stop and go traffic and its hot as **** outside you will cook your legs, well your right leg since the left leg will be freezing from the A/C. Thats how hot the auto runs, well at least mine does, i even have a decent sized cooler on it too (24K GVW). i dont really remember how my stock transmission ran and i only put 40-50k miles on it before i swapped it out. i swapped because once i supercharged the car she started missing shifts. if i had modded my stocker it may have lived longer even with the extra power. really, im pretty sick of my auto...i cant stand the fact that this ****** downshifts at 30 MPH and keeps me at 2500 rpms!!! takes forever for the converter to lock up under light load driving so my RPMS hover around 3k rpms. i dont think stock autos do this but this is what you could expect from a tune...i have wasted a lot of gas datalogging for tune adjustments...one thing gets fixed and another problem pops up. be a big boy and get a manual they arent that bad...i've driven my subaru in some of the worst traffic jams outside of stuttgart. while i was in the traffic i didnt even think things would be better with the auto because my leg would be drippin sweat!

good luck finding a mustang overseas for a practical price unless your american than they are cheap.

ehhh VAT taxes are going to kill at a staggering 19%

obviously, you have some money so if i were you i would get a 2003-2004 cobra and call it a day. the GT's blow and will just leave you wanting more.

I had an Auto in my v6 and the only thing I didn't really like about it was that people looked down on it becuase of the fact is is an auto. If you have congested traffic I would say get the auto and do the J-mod or atleast use a programmer to increase line pressure (not the best way), and add a cooler. There are times I've been in a traffic jam and wish I had an auto.

Dude my auto has never disappointed me. She seems somewhat confuses when about 1/2 throttle in the 3000+ range, but when i stop on it she hauls *** just fine.

the only part i miss is i feel less of a connection with the road without having the manual. Also, if somone revs at you and wants to hear you rev back, it is somewhat awkward to do.

I have 4:10's in mine, i think that is the best part of the auto is they go great with 4:10 gearing and you are not constanglt banging 1-2 then 2-3 within the first 20 feet of taking off.

as please as i am with my auto, i would still preffer a manual.

a lot of people underestimate automatic mustangs. The auto tranny is definatly not a granny tranny.
