Newbie to the Mustang World
Hi, I'm a newbie so be prepared for lots of " DUMB " questions, little bit of background about myself and how I got to where I'm at. Been riding Harley Davidsons for quite sometime now and recently seen this 02 GT on a used car lot , so long story short , traded 1 of my bikes in a bought her !
To begin with I want to change the wheels, I'm wanting to purchase the Black Bullet wheels from MT 17x9s , the tires on the GT are like new and I dont want to change them Goodyear 245/45ZR17 ,will I have any problems with this setup ?also can I go to a 17x10 in the rear with out any suspension modifications ?
I warned you, dumb question no.2 , The Gt has somesort of body kit on it and the exhaust come out at the lower edge of the doors Its not a roush Ithink it CDC but the dealer told me it has a computer chip we can't get ahold of the seller, how will I ever know what type of chip is in it?
ok last dumb question I promise for now, When shifting from gear to gear [5 speed] first to second the gt really bites in so powerful like that its will lerch forward about 3 time before it calms down , is this normal or does it sound like I'm going to have something wild going wrong ? It only has 13,000 mile and the gt is in well taken care of condition,
thanks, need help for the dumb biker

I can only answer a couple of these..17x10.5s will fit on a stang if even an inch lowered. And I think its sweet that you have a side exhuast! please post some pics so we can tell who makes it, and a tuner could probably tell you what kind of chip, and tune it on it currently...thats all i can help you with now

1- You can go 315/xx/17 even with a lowered mustang and have no problems. Those goodyear tires (if they are the oem) are garbage. You should take em off and sell them on ebay or locally or something and take the money for some better tires, because you will be glad you did in the end.
2- Do you have a picture of the car? It could have steeda exhaust, roush, ect... If you look underneath at the mufflers, it should tell you. As for the body kit, youll also have to post pictures, or find the mustang body kits and match which is up to yours. For the chip its probably untracable as who the manufacturer is unless its an ACTUALL chip, not a reprogrammer. Talk to the dealership about the previous owner because they will have it on file. Mabye they can help you with contacting the previous owner that they can tell you information about the car.
3- 1st and 2nd gears in our cars are the power gears, and its downhill after each gear. Mabye you have different gears in the car. Youll have to find a gear calculator and match up your rpm and speed in gears compared to stock gearing which is 3.27s. The popular switch-outs are from stock to 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, or 4.30s.

oh my, thank you for saving that car.....get rid of the kit, get those bullits like you said ASAP....either way, you chose a great color
i have heard if you put a tires of 315/xx/xx , you will have to move the quad shock out of the way (rotate it or something like that)
tires: i have some nitto nt555 (more traction than radial and lasts a little bit longer than the 555r's)..they are like 105 @ www.discounttiredirect.com ...you may want to head to that site to check out some decent prices
if you want to check the chip, look for the computer and it will be located on there unless someone used a programmer, then you will never know
good luck with everything
:by the way: why is "GT" everywhere like in the grille and near the antenna

Questions, questions
Your styled wheels are popular with the euro/ricer set - sell em. What type bullits did you buy? I have polished 18's I got here at MT and they are beauties.
Your body kit looks like the add-on rather than replacement type (looks to me like you have your original bumper covers under the tacked on spoiler trim). If you're careful, you can remove these components and sell them, too, when the time comes. In the meantime, the existing parts don't look too bad to me... I'd definitely keep the side exhaust, unless its a problem of some kind.
If you want to add a body kit, check out the big name suppliers - their quality is oe level. Stay AWAY from folks selling fiberglass kits for $499! A good Rousch, Saleen, or Cervini kit will fit like it was made for your car, and the bumpers will be urethane, not fiberglass, and replace the entire bumper cover.
I have Baer eradispeed rotors on my 02 GT, and I hate 'em. If you ever had a bike you clipped a playing card to so it would hit the spokes, you know the sound - and it is LOUD. And constant. Not just when applying the brakes, but ALLLLLLLLLL the time! Everyone pay heed: These are a BAD idea, and Baer's customer service is set on "ignore" as soon as you complain.
If you want to upgrade the brakes (and these cars need the upgrade) look at the various Cobra kits. They work well, are cheaper than the aftermarket guys, and will stop your car better than they will a Cobra (weight is the Cobra's achilles heel).
If you just have to have the cross-drilled look, stick with the FRPP brand.
Welcome to the fold. 2002 was a good year for GT's!

Good choice
Good pick for the tires and wheels. 275's should clear front ok, and you can still rotate your tires. And you can't go wrong with black.
