Default inexpensive side exhaust?

i know a couple of people side exhaust on their f-body cars. they have headers with a mid pipe and flex pipe after that which goes to the back of the side skirts where the tips are sticking out. both of the cars sound awesome and they said they felt more power sotp but have no dyno results to prove it.

im interested in hearing some more opinions on this. i doubt my car would have any gains in horsepower but i've always loved side exhaust and doing it that way would cost me maybe $40 for the flex pipe vs $600+ for a side exhaust kit.

side exhaust kits generally cost you power. but, they are louder to people inside the car. do you want them to come through side skirts like the roush or under the stock ones?

i'd probably just put them under the stock side skirts and im not really worried if it costs me maybe 5 hp. as long as that's about all it costs me. i just love side exhaust.

yeah its beautiful but also expensive. im thinking about taking off my cat back and using flex pipe to make the side exhaust. need to get some nice looking tips for it though.

if the tailpipes exit the muffler in the front it costs power, thats why a lot of people are now using normal mufflers and bending the tailpipes around to the sides

thanks. i like the idea of making a side exchaust straight from the mid pipe. i might make something like that directly from the header collectors, and try to fit a small straight through muffler in the piping somewhere, but ill have it coming out closer to the fronts since i wont use a h pipe. the rear 02s are off in the tune, but if they still need to be plugged in ill weld in a sensor boss in the tubing

i would try and use a resonator, similar to the slp ones, like make a bend pipe with a flange for the collector merge point, attach the resonator, then bend a larger angle radius to the side skirt

100% correct sir.... side exhaust looses HP due to the multitude of bends in the pipe. But, if you do just do it from the mid pipe or the headers, and run a small muffler, then yes, you can greatly increase HP... only problem is from the headers, is the noise, sheck the noise ordinances in your area, I have a custom magnapack side exhaust kit being made right now.... stole the idea off some dude on ebay, and decided he was being a dumb**** after not returning multiple emails and such... I can send you a link if you'd like.... Just keep in mind, with side exhaust under the skirt, you WILL have clearance issues, no more speed bumps my friend

I have seen the one you are talking about on ebay. Most important thing is if you can stand the noise out the side.
