quick question which one would you recommend.

the Duplicolor kit
or

only issue is that i dont want to to take off the brakes since i dont have the tools are skills to do so. IDC how easy you say it is i dont want to mess with it.

just realized that in the VHT kit you have to take them off, so guess im going with the Duplicolor kit. itll be a good weekend project. and yes im going with red.

The Duplicolor kit is probably your best bet then. Just so you know, the stuff also melts off w/ brake cleaner so once painted, be careful w/ the stuff, if you ever spray it there.

Ive used spray paint and a paint brush. Paint brush is definitely the way to go.

AutoZone - Brake Calliper Paint ( high temp ), some tape and grocery store plastic bags, and some old newspapers, a little creativity and wahhhlaaahhh!

Dont need to buy no special online paint marketing crap!

The Dupicolor is more durable.

I just used high temp flat black paint and it rocks.

on the VHT page it says you can use it on the rotors. Why the hell would anyone want to do that? :confused:

Painting Exhaust Pipes?
 

Can it be done? Should it be done?
Going to paint calipers flat black. Can the same paint be used on exhaust pipes?

I want this car to be totally black. (No chrome).

you should probably put this as a new topic, ive never heared of somebody painting thier tailpipes.

my rec, find a place that can do annodization. That is the process of coloring metal. Get them annodized black, then they would stay shiney, be black, and still have a very metallic look, it wont chip, flek, or peel with heat. It would probably look rediculously sinister. :D

Technically it's the process of rusting metal since anodizing is a metallic oxide (made from the metal it's anodizing). However, you probably can't do this for exhaust tips since they are usually made from steel.

annodizing the calipers wont work. annodizing the a crappy finish. its chips pretty easy, but it scratches much easier then caliper paint. plus the caliper would have to be completely dissassembled, the piston taken out, the seals taken out, and its just a bad idea all around. it works well for things like the brackets you posted, and coil over bodies, and other aluminum pieces. that can be submersed in acids and charged and such.

I got this picture off a post Icefreezen posted a while back. I plan on painting my calipers this way next month when i change my brakes.

Clemons, i diddnt mean anodize the calipers, i was thinking anodize the exhaust tips.

i'm eventually going to upgrade to those (they're actually the bullitt upgrade...my bad), but as a temporary face lift i'm planning to use the red duplicor kit as well.

no...i'm pretty sure they're the actual replacement calipers. notice the 2 bolts and the black part (that actually clamps down on the rotor). either way...they're sweet. painted calipers look cool, but the reason you paint them red are to make them LOOK LIKE the high performance ones (like those actually are).

i couldn't imagine painting the actual rotors...way too easy to completely destroy your brakes. you'd have to do it juuuust right (only on the outer rim without ANY getting on the functional part). I deff not recommend it...

i like red calipers. nuttin wrong with painting the dual pistons red. mine are FMS parts.

theres absolutely nothing wrong with painting the rotors. i washde the car, so the rotors got all oxidized, then drive it, to clean off the contact patch. then i used a lot of masking tape in straight lines, trying to make them as tangent as possible. let them dry, then went and drove it. there was maybe a millimeter or two of paint the pad had to clean off. but that made the edge perfect.

it didn't gunk up your pads?
