yer gonna get a bunch of links to the official gear thread.

lol.

If it is an auto you should go with 4:10's. If it is stick you should do 3:73's or 3:90's so yer not constantly shifting through the first 15mph. lol.

you have an 8.8 rear end.

if you do gears yer speedo will be off, you will need either a diablosport turner or an sct tuner to correct the speedo.

I put 4:10's on and it is wihtout a doubt my favorite go-fast mod.

EDIT: oh yeah, you can just say you have an 02 GT, everyone will know yer engine.

get the kit off american muscle.com

i personally woulld go w/ the 3.73's.

you can get the gears, the speed cal, 3 qts of royal purple, the bearing kit, shipped for $324.28

you will need the discount code, so pm a mod or admin for the discount code.

then expect to pay about $250 - $500 to get them installed.

Go with 4.10's..its worth it. You can get a speedo tuner, but i suggest getting an Xcal2. Its something that comes in handy down the road and worth the price. Look online for used and unlocked xcals, they usually run round $200-$250.

Just curious, this is the first time i have ever seen a reccomendation of gearing based off tire size rather than transmission type.

want to expand on this a bit?

Gotta do either Diablo or Xcall as far as i know. Never heared of a speedo Tuner?

They DID have Speedometer recalibration gears for 1979 though 1998...

after that, i thought it took a chip tuner to make the changes.

I believe Dallas mustangs, or something like that, makes it. Its for new edge mustangs that dont have a speedo gear. Its a little box that you hook up and you can change the computer to read what gear set you have.
