Cobra brake kit
After spending some time reading up on the cobra brake conversion I've run across a couple questions. Please keep in mind this would be for a daily driver with no track use. I'm going to be needing new brakes soon anyways so I figure I might as well upgrade.
I couldn't find much information about the stainless steel brake lines. I'm thinking that I'm not going to get them but I wanted some input.
Also the kit on AM doesn't say anything about new banjo bolts. Do I need to pick these up seperately or do they come in the kit?

Thanks for the responses. Now I'm sure about the banjo bolts but I'm still undecided on the ss brake lines. The stock brake lines are not ss and I would imagine the will last for a descent amount of time. I have visited the track only once since I had my car so I won't be pushing these brakes to the limit by any means. It seems to me like the stock lines would be fine for my application. I just want something that will perform better than stock since I'm going to need new pads and the rotors turned anyways.

get the freakin lines...they make a good difference...they are not very $$.
Think of it like this: not getting SS lines with the cobra upgrade kit is just like getting laid and not bothering to piihb. lameness. lol.
get the SS lines. Your actually making your car safer with this mod. shorter stopping distances are safer than longer ones. The banjo bolts I got with my kit from AM were not the right ones, but they sent me the right ones pretty quick so it was cool.
dont forget to do a brake flush!

I got the kit through AM and used the rubber lines that came with it. Then i found out about buyfordracing. Get the kit from buyfordracing. I think it already comes with ss lines. As for the brakes, not as big as a difference as you would expect. The brake pedal still feels the same as it did with the stockers.

I just bled the fronts and the master cylinder. When I was bleeding them, the peddle was rock solid, but when I started the car and took it for a spin, the peddle became softer and mushy. If I push down hard enough the pedal will go to the floor, and I could feel it pulsing.

running a 245 or 255 your not gonna see to much of a stopping differnece. My car has the abs kicking in real hard once i swapped out to good pads and stainless lines. I cant imagne how much the cobra kit with 245 tires would be locking up. If i had like a 9" wide front wheel and 275's up front i bet the braking power could really be used well.

That never happens during normal driving though. I just wanted to see if the pedal will go to the floor if I push it hard enough and it does (this was done while the car was at a stand still). I guess I could have the whole system bled when I have my longtubes installed at the end of August. So far I haven't had any problems with the brakes since I put them on in April.

Thanks for the info about buyfordracing.com, too bad AM doesn't do that. I like buying from AM as I have a few times before they are good and fast. Oh well maybe they will put them in the August sale!

That's where I bought mine from just a couple months ago. They were/are great. Easy install. EVERYTHING fit perfect. Took me an hour to do both sides... +/-

I'm probably going to order mine from there too. Did that kit come with banjo bolts? It doesn't say anything about them on the website.

I was worried about that 2 days after I ordered the kit so I ordered just the banjo bolts. They called me and emailed me and told me that ordering them was a "waste of money" because they were included with the stainless lines(goodrich) that come with the kit.
