o ya and im still running 87 octane, i kept 87 because i didnt feel like paying $6 a gallon this summer for a few extra ponies

I'm not a good at projecting HP, but I bet you'd get better results with another catback system like magnaflow. You have some pretty significant mods that would compliment the little mods like a CAI and catback so who knows how much power you could gain....however, I think the most power is to be had in your tune....and trust me, I don't blame you for wanting to run 87 octane because putting high octane in my car is killing me!

It doesnt have to be SLP.

SLP, Borla, Magnaflow, Basanni. Hell, youd gain power with stock mufflers vs those things.

Air in - Air out - thats how a motor works, and you are giving it hot air with the BBK, and choking the air out with the flows - but you have a $700 set of cams ?

It's generally .20 more a gallon.

Is 3.20 cents a tank (16 gallons) REALLY that bad ?

If you buy a tank a week, thats $14 a MONTH.

That is - unless you are running solid 100 octane, then I can 100% see what you mean.

I agree with you on the exhaust though

Your right, it's about .20 cents more for 91 octane, but 91 octane was up to $3.80 a gallon around here...booo. I guess my complaint was more about gas prices in general.

Lately I have been putting 4 gallons of 100 octane and the rest 91 octane and the car LOVES it...but $6.50 a gallon for 100 octane stinks. ha ha ha....but I do it anyway.

I feel you on the gas prices man.

Gas droped a bit last week so our 91 is about 3.30ish - and 100 octane has been sitting at 4.99/gal for the past year or two.

ah your lucky with 100 octane being 4.99/gal. I think the same gas station I get the 100 octane from has 95 octane for around 4.99/gal....I was thinking the way gas prices were going it was going to be cheaper to put race fuel in the car. ha ha

You can pretty much use any catback system with any midpipe can't you? It's usually just the type of headers that determine which midpipe to use. I love the sound of my car, but I don't have a full catback system. Just flowmaster mufflers. Was already on the car when I bought it.

Yes sir. 96-04 V8 they are all interchangable

Good stuff. How does the Magnaflow sound with an o/r/ x-pipe? I like the flowmaster sound I have, but I want to the performance as well.

here's a little tid bit for you.

To make maximum (and really any good gain) from an X pipe you need to do a thermal inspection of it while the pipe is at operating temp and the engine is running.

The technique is to take a infrared temp gun and find the piont along the pipe where the temp begins to fall and put the X right before that (toward the engine). That makes sure that the gasses are still expanding and increases the scavenging effect, thus making more power.

The guys at one of my tuners do that to every car they put an X on and it's been reliably showing much better results than using just any ol' aftermarket pre-fab pipe.

Well I got the cams+springs for $550 and installed them myself, I can live with that to gain the idle, hp, extra pull in high rpms. Id rather spend $550 on that than buying a cai for $180 and mufflers for $100........but im still really doubting 20 rwhp from a cai and muffler switch, maybe im wrong but that seems like a shitload

When you figuire you LOST probably 5-10 goign to the flowmasters.

Its only a 15 gain from stock - people have done that with just the exhaust.

Then you factor in a GOOD CAI, Hell I gained 12 RWHP on a STOCK inlet with a good filter and a 03/04 Cobra silencer.

Its been done, time and time agin. Thats without the cams you have, which will also make a good difference.
