Hep with gears
I just bought my second 2000 4.6L. It has Richmond 3.73's in it already but they make a wine noise. Seceral ppl told me thats normal for richmond gears and others say that no gear should ever wine..... any suggestions?

I dont know but I hear that richmond gears wine really bad
|
I have heard only to go with FRPP for a quiet ride. Thats what I did...and not an ounce of noise/whine.
I have read that Richmond tend to whine. |
whine means improper gear install. This crap of only run FRPP stuff is a myth i can make those whine just like any other gear if i dont know what i am doing.

Not installed right. My friend has Richmonds in is F-150. No whine at all.
|
thanks... i guess i gotta put them in right then.

I love a good myth. :boink:

Just go ahead and put in 4.10's
|
i would be shifting every 2 sec is a bi!ch
|
I've got FRPP 4.10s and then whine when they're under load between 45 and 50 mph. My installer told me it was the bearing and he could fix it for $150, but I would think that if it was the bearing it would whine all the time...

If the gears are helical cut gears they do not whine, simple as that.
