Default Mustang GT Projector Headlight Installation

I recently purchased a set of projector headlight to replace the factory yellowed and fogged headlights.

These Depo lights appear to be good quality and look great however, the instruction included consist of one sheet of paper with a few either misspelled or unrecognizeable words. They also include a complete wireness to adaprt to the factory harness.

After checking with some local auto-lighting places, they either cannot install them or if they can, they estimate about 3 hours work so the cost will be $300 and up just to install. I contacted the online dealer and he insists that his 6 year old daughter could install them.

Does anyone know of any online instruction manual or a local southern Claifornia auto place that could do this at a reasonable cost?

I am in south Orange County so anywhere near Irvine, Newport Beach, Mission viejo, SanClemente, etc. This is the link to the lights. I have to either install or return immediately before my return window closes.

The quicker the better someone can email me would be greatly appreciated.

It's easy. Just pull out the two tabs per side and then slide the Headlights forward a little. Disconnect the light connectors and pull the headlights all the way out. REverse for install..

The ones in his link are from a 94-98 model, not 99-04. So that doesnt help him.

I would go to a auto parts store and pickup a haynes manual or something similar. They tell you how to remove the head lights. On the 94-98 models it is a pain, but its easy enough to do at home. Definatly not 3 hours.

Save yourself the cash and buy a real shop manual. The Haynes manual is a POS and tells you only general info.

I would consider replacing the headlights general stuff. Its fine for the normal person, I wouldnt use it to rebuild an engine but it explains most normal maintenance items which is their function.

Mine shows brake repair, body panel removal, light removal, wiring diagrams, etc.

True, but it lacks certain specs like the diff cover torque specs, a detailed explanation on how to remove your exhaust system, etc. It's OK but it's worth it to just buy a shop manual. Chilton is slightly better but just buy it used either on eBay, from the dealer, or just buy it brand new.

That looks relatively easy, for that model. However, I have a 2006 GT, which I'm trying to modify. The process involved in changing out the headlight housing, is much different. Anyone have any suggestions for installing similar headlights on my '06 GT? They are the GT-R concept type.

Thanks,

I'm thinking of shortening the long tab in the back ,Maybe i can get the things out that way.Even the Bumper lights I had to loosen the fender well. But it will look sweet when I'm done.
I'll let you know how it works out!!!

Hal - did you ever find projector lights that would fit a 98 Mustang. I just posted the following under the PARTS forum (perhaps the wrong place - will move it if necessary):

Please help - advice is appreciated. I ordered the following after market (Taiwan) headlights from ProCarParts for my Laser Red 1998 Mustand GT convertible. I thought they would update the look alot and looked the best. They also had amber reflectors which are required in my state.

Product: FORD MUSTANG 1994-1998 G6 CHROME HOUSING CLEAR LENS D.O.T. TWIN ANGEL EYE PROJECTOR HEADLAMPS

I received the product and took the car to my competent auto service place and they said after an hour that the headlights do not fit. Even though ProCarParts says they sell many of these, my service people said that the corner portion of these one piece headlights could not recess in far enough. In other words, they stuck out. So I sent them back for a credit.

Is there something I am missing or unusual about my car. Does the fact that it is a convertible make a difference.

Alternatively, can you recommend other aftermarket headlights that will give my 98 a more up to date look (like the 1999's and thereafter)? Thank you for your help.
