Default O/D auto 4.10 ???

I was curious if it hurts the transmission to bring it in and out of O/D very much. What I mean is that my O/D with 4.10's now turns on around 30-35mph if I am driving normally. I don't like that and would prefer to turn O/D off untill I am up to speed. Is that a problem if say your doing that 3-4 times in a 5 minute period?

its just shifting from O/D to 3rd. Just like in a manual. So I would assume it isnt a problem. But why go back and forth in a 5min span? I do it sometimes but not that often.

The reason for going back and forth is because of 3 stop lights on my way to work. I would only be taking it out of O/D at the light and turning it back on when I am up to speed and then turning it off at the next light.....

Let the transmission shift like it was designed to....thats why they call it automatic it does it for you

The transmission was designed to shift with 3.27 gears. With 4.10's it shifts way too early into O/D. Once again, is it harmful to the transmission to shift in and out of O/D?

No, the computer was designed to shift with 3.27 not the transmission hence why we have tuners to tell the computer were running different gears. If you do not have your car tuned for the 4.10's then thats your problem. If the car is in overdrive (our 4R70W's), the transmission will automatically select the gear based on vehicle speed and throttle pedal position. If it's not tuned for 4.10 then it's thinking that your at a speed that your not really at. I'm pretty sure your computer can decide the time to shift better than you can.

If you want to drive around with the O/D lockout on thats your personal option to do. Persoanally I only lock it out when I race because shifting into 4th at WOT causes damage. But driving around town I rather have my transmission shift into a higher gear faster beacuse it makes my engine work less.
